Black or white?

Just wondering... I assume potting containers are black for a reason? What's the reason and will a white 5 gal bucket work just as well.

I need space in my grow area and a 5 gallon
bucket is taller, fits the room better.

Any comments please.

needs to be lightproof really.

i've seen lots of people with plants in white containers, i guess if the plastic is thick enough light won't get through and you'll be fine. whack a torch up against the side of it and see if it is clearly visible or such.
