Black Market growers are getting a bad rap because of losers that use pesticides

That's all you hear on the news now is that all these vapes are poisoned with poison weed grown by half ass growers. I guess it won't be too hard to scare people that care about their health into buying only legal weed. It is pretty scary to be buying poison weed.

it's the same as it's ever been...there have always been unethical growers that just want to make money, and don't care at all about quality, as long as it looks good enough to get people to buy it....the news is just paying more attention to weed now that it's become an industry.
the only thing you can do is get to know the people you buy from, ask them questions, if you don't like the answers, look elsewhere.....
i started growing my own for several reasons, and that was a major one....i use pyrethrin and spinosad,(both have low toxicity to human, and short half lives) in veg....once a plant starts to flower, it gets nothing sprayed on it outside of an occasional touch of calmag, and i'm careful not to get that on buds...

I have a friend who is pretty much just a hobby grower. Doesnt smoke that much and doesnt sell. He recently harvested a bunch of outdoor and brought it to someone who trimmed it all up for him. For free. They kept all the trimmings. Im sure to make concentrates and carts with no concern about lingering pesticides/fungicides. Carts are the real problem imo, so easy to sell and disguise any nastiness that was grown along with the plant.

not just what was sprayed on the plant, but what are they using in the carts? is it medical grade? do they sterilize their equipment after each use?.....

In a recent case where people died from vaping weed carts it was found there were these 2 brothers buying up carts from a legal state and transporting them for resale and a huge markup in a non-legal state. I think they sent these guys up the river just to make an example of them. I doubt they thought they were doing anything to hurt people; just tryin to make money. While trying to find a link to this story I just read of a guy in Oregon who died from a vape bought at a dispensary.
There's stuff other than weed oil in a vape cart: you need a catalyst to atomize the vapor with a tiny heat probe. Most use food grade vegetable glycerin or polyethylene glycol; the same stuff that's in vape juice or a fog machine.
I'm not sure it's pesticides or bad grower technique that is causing these deaths. I think it has more to do with the chemical make up of the vape juice. It's a fact that inhaling anything other than air into your lungs is bad. Vape juice has not been around long enough to know if the long term effects of inhaling weed infused fog machine vapor is worse than inhaling pot smoke or not. So my friends go out and smoke a blunt or a big fat bone. It's for your health.

And yet in the seventies and eighties the government sprayed paraquat on weed they knew would still be sold and consumed in America.

I was thinking the same thing.

I've read that same article. Knowing the United States government continued spraying that stuff knowing it would end up on the streets of America and be consumed sickens me. I know that I smoked some of that contaminated weed back in the day. Back then we didn't even care. I miss the days of being young and naive without a care in the world. Nowadays I think about everything I do and the impact it will have on my life. I don't have as much unbridled fun as I used to.

We could all be growing perfectly and cannabis could be healing everyone without harming a single person and the news media would still run stories about how you're probably going to die if you ever even see cannabis.

This story about vape carts started right after Jeffrey Epstein was murdered and it seems like a distraction to me. If we find out who murdered Jeff Epstein, we might have some other questions which might eventually lead us to realizing that all politicians fuck little kids for fun.

Maybe I'm jaded :-P

I always tell ppl to grow their own. Eating conventional veggies is enough, can't smoke and inhale conventional weed

the exact reason i tried vaping and quit after about a month, when it started to make my chest hurt...i made my own juice, out of medical grade ingredients, and my own weed, so i know it wasn't contaminants making my chest hurt, it was vaping....

I don’t use carts, but I’ll dab some solventless rosin all day. All the additives in the carts, it’s a shame to pollute good cannabis. I think I had heard something about vitamin E being added and that it turns to tar when vaporized and cooled (but lu gs can’t repair it like normal). Could just be rumor mill though

The point is the news media will say whatever it takes to keep the majority of people under control. Whether or not what they're saying is in any way indicative of what's happening in reality, people will still believe it and adjust their behavior accordingly.

You should check out the documentary "They Live" :-P

honestly, what i was looking for, and still am, is a way to get high while i'm out and about that doesn't make the general vicinity smell like weed...vaping never really got me high, and it made my chest feel like i had a 50 pound weight on it....
one of my customers keeps telling me about his dry herb vapes, which i'm willing to try, but the one he recommends is 300 bucks...i got 300 bucks, but the fuck if i'm dropping it on a unit that i suspect will end up in my bottom drawer collecting dust when it fails to get me high, too

If he is talking about the Pax3, I have one and it is by far the most flavorful way to get my meds, I love it. Only problem is, it is not inconspicuous at all other than in looks. You’ll blow huge smoke / vapor clouds that smell like the most amazing herb . Amazing high that I find is shorter lived than if smoking

Speaking to the OP about black market growers getting a bad rap due to poison weed....cartel guerilla growers out west don't give a shit about people's health or the environment....only about making money. These are large scale grow ops with zero integrity that are damaging the forests, water quality, wildlife and the reputation of black market weed. No doubt some of that weed's making its way into vape carts. That's some black market product folks should avoid.

That's the same reason I don't vape. Something just doesn't feel right in my lungs when I have. I've been skeptical about vaping since it became popular. It hasn't been a common method long enough to know of the potential long term effects. Now some ill effects are starting to show up. Even though they use non-toxic food grade ingredients there have not been any studies or any significant testing on what those products do when vaporized and inhaled. I'm not going to be a guinea pig for the industry. And it's not just cannabis cartridges. There have been people that were just using the Juul nicotine vapes that have had the same symptoms.

And like you I don't seem to get high from vaping. I like the smoke and the taste from flower. It's much more satisfying to me.

Vitamin E is a preservative used in food, you can see it listed in the ingredients as tocopherol. They probably added it to the carts for that purpose thinking that if it's safe as food it'll be safe in their product. Just because something is food grade doesn't mean it can't harm you, especially if you heat it to inhale.
