The Black Lives Matter movement is based on a factual existence of racism, but its not the 'solvable' problem at hand.
Nothing will change racism but time, and better raising of the young generations...
The real problem, is the militarization of the police force, and the lack of punishment for trigger happy badges. Skin color is only important to the news crews, cops these days are shooting first, and shooting to kill.
My local PD just got Milspec AR15s for their cruisers.... why the fuck would a cop need an assault rifle for a traffic stop!? That is a SWAT weapon, that is a weapon we deploy our active soldiers with... AFTER weeks of training, mental and physical.... not a few hours in a conference room, and a few clips on the gun range... If you need military weapons to get the bad guys... you need the fucking military to get the bad guys, thats why we have a national guard, not to drive trucks in hostile desert wars on the other side of the world.... to protect the nation!
Even when an officer is 'charged' for something (meaning someone caught it on tape, AND got the video to the media) you never hear about any convictions afterwards.... they charge them, and the news forgets about them.
I know not all cops are bad. I know the vast majority of them in fact, are good decent people. But by standing by and letting the minority get away with the bullshit they have been in the last decade or so.... they are no better than the ones who are being assholes.
Stop militarizing the police, and start holding them accountable for their actions. And the movement needs to start with the good cops hanging the shit cops out to dry. Cops should not induce fear on sight, they should give a sense of hope and safety when you see them. A sense of order, not a secret order.
