Saw this on the news today and I'm curious why so many African Americans have Aids.


HARRISBURG, PA-Hamilton Health Center, Black Girl Health.com and Author, Preston A. Dent are collaborating to present free HIV testing to the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania community at Reservoir Park July 19th, 2014. Preston will perform his new single, David, from the novel, DAVID Live Life, Live Long, Live Free. DAVID is about a young man growing up in poverty and confusion, contracting the HIV virus through sexual intercourse--the novel twists and turns the reader like an emotional rollercoaster of understanding the ignorance one can endure of not knowing what their health situation can be. The event is from 12 P.M. to 4 P.M. Complimentary HIV testing will also begin at this time.

So how long will it take for these "Socioeconomic" people to get up to speed?
They have all the handouts they need since LBJ gave these poor souls free money and handouts in 1959.

Will they ever recover in the history of the earth?

socio-economic status, or SES, affects people of all colors, races, nationalities, creeds, religions and the like.

but it's pretty cool how you keep trying to associate this disease with "these "Socioeconomic" people", ie "black folks".

well, white people make up 60+ percent of actual welfare recipients, and they had a 400+ year head start. so how long will it take for "those "Socioeconomic" people" to "get up to speed"?

I don't care if whites make up 60% of the welfare roll.
Black/ Other than make up the other 40%.

Why are blacks 8 times more likely to contract Aids more than white/Other ethnics?

I think it comes down to a gap in education. There doesn't seem to be a curriculum component, age appropriate of course, taught across the board instructing students on safe sex, STIs, HIV/AIDs. The following provides a good comparison of different curriculum standards in different states, some are in stark contrast to others.

All states are somehow involved in sex education for public schoolchildren.
As of July 1, 2014:
  • 22 states and the District of Columbia require public schools teach sex education (20 of which mandate sex education and HIV education).
  • 33 states and the District of Columbia require students receive instruction about HIV/AIDS.
  • 19 states require that if provided, sex education must be medically, factually or technically accurate. State definitions of “medically accurate" vary, from requiring that the department of health review curriculum for accuracy, to mandating that curriculum be based on information from “published authorities upon which medical professionals rely.”
