Yea CFLs really don't seem to drive up your electric bill in any noticeable way. Thats a cool idea using a vanity mirror for light fixtures.. I might look into that myself.

cfls are nice because os the heat issue, but they will drive your electric bill the same as or if not worse than hid if you are counting lumens per lumens for watts used...hid lights are really more cost effective for the light that you get....right now your lights are pulling 772 watts and giving you around 35,000 to 40,000 lumens...with a 600 watt hps or mh you are only pulling around 670 or less with light and ballast and you get around 90,000 lumens....thats double the light energy for less watts.....

True.. but CFLs are good for newbies with limited budgets, such as myself. Im on my first attempt... I think for my 2nd setup I may invest in some serious lights/vents.

you need to shop around..23w cfls are around $7 to $9 a piece and the 85w are around $17..thats around 180 with tax....you can pick up a 600w set up for around that.....

then go for a smaller 150w or 250w hps self contained setup...they dont get very hot at all....i have a 150w hps in my top cab for a scrog set up...i was using cfls on the bottom cause i thought they would be cooler and less expensive.....i ended up chucking the cfls and got another little 150w hps....my cab is runnig cooler now.....1 cfl bulb isnt very hot...but 12 23w bulbs in a 2x2 space will put off some heat.....
