I was under the impression that you want to flush to help remove some of the chlorophyll taste that would be left due to the mg and other green tasting elements (i know curing continues this process). From what i've gathered flushing the plants to the point of yellowing draws all the remaining resources from the leaves resulting in a cleaner smoke bet tasting smoke, regardless of using bud blasters or not. Im sure the results would differ more if your using a bud blaster and dont flush as oppossed to using no bud blaster and not flushing, but you will still have a better smoke regardless with a really good flushing. This is just the general time frame it usually takes to get to that point for me.
From what I understand it's the Nitrogen that's the root of problem, not the chlorophyll. Too much N will give you bud that doesn't burn clean and tastes bad.

In my experience that yellowing is one easy way to tell you've starved them just enough. You don't have to do more than just getting the first signs of yellowing.
