Good day guys,

I made some BHO with opened blast tube without vac.
The material is trimmed off leaves by spin trimmer.
so i believed it should have some buds in it.
I also took off all the fan leaves before put in spin trimmer

The color its dark, and smoke very harsh.
Is there still butane left in it?
Is there anyway I can get rid of this harsh taste?

I still have some material left.
just want to make sure I can done it in the right way before any further action.
How can I know if there have purged enough?
How long you purge if not having vac?

Really new to this. I didnt know what can I do with trimmed off before. I just simply throw it way...
It would be awesome to turn trimmed off to something smokable.
appreciate for all the feedback or inputs here.
cheers

Probably lots of wax in it, since trimmings are largely leaf, which have a layer of cuticle wax on them. Just look up winterizing to find out how to remove the wax. Basically you dissolve it in alcohol and cool it for a day or two in a freezer.

If the color is dark there may also be chlorophyll in it. Activated carbon will help remove it if you pour the winterized solution through it. Then you should probably pour some clean alcohol through the carbon to recover any oil that may be adhering to it. Also would be good to wet the carbon first with alcohol so it doesn't soak the oil up inside it as much.

Spin trimmer blades are typically lubricated with vegetable oil, which gets on the trim.
They also rupture a lot of plant cells, exposing their contents to the solvent.

Material was to beat up. Try differnt solvent provider. Use low heat n agitate vigorously if ur not vac purging or rotary evaporate

Just use a solvent that's less toxic and is a liquid at room temp, like natural turpentine. It stinks like hell but nobody can gripe about an extract being contaminated with pinene, because it's almost all contaminated with pinene already. The reason I suggest turp is because pinene is the most volatile and low boiling of the Cannabis terpenes so easiest to remove. The BP is too close to THC to be able to cook it off but it will just evaporate at room temp within a few days. A vacuum purge would probably help. It's readily available in paint stores, costs like $10 a liter. I guess it might evaporate too slow to be practical, I don't know.

Actually I wouldn't recommend turpentine after all. It's pretty toxic really. I think people would be much better off if they removed all the terpenes from extracts. Unless they're more potent than THC, how could they even have an effect when smoked in an extract, since there's always less terps than THCA/THC? Frankly terps are nasty shit when you read their safety data sheets. I know pinene sure won't get anybody high. Limonene and myrcene may not be that bad but considering limonene is a powerful solvent, do you really want to smoke a solvent?
