Hi all

How would you go about it? Keep at decarb temp until no co2 bubbles come out? In what kind of recipient should i do this that wont be wastefull due to whats sticking to said recipient.

I agree with SnapsProvolone. It is something you have to watch and stir. I've only done it when mixed with coconut or olive oil for canna caps, which avoids the problem of Klite's concern about the sticky residue and potential waste if I read him right. However, at 250°, wax is going to be pretty runny and should pour fairly easily. Any remainder can be dissolved in alcohol and evaporated on glass to reclaim. I did some older material that must have partially decarbed over time. It took only ten minutes in the same bath as a container of fresh material which went just over 20 minutes.

Here is a graph, compliments of Jump, which shows generally what happens at the different temperatures. It is a good guideline, but it is necessary to watch the reaction to actually tell when it is at the proper stage.

We decarboxylate in a hot oil bath at 250F, and watch the bubbles to tell where we are at.

You will note that the curves peak at approximately 70% decarboxylation, and drop off sharply in the hotter samples. That is because beyond that point, the existing THC is being converted to CBN at a faster rate than the remaining THCA is being converted to THC.

You can see it reach that point, as the rapidly boiling suddenly drops off and starts to fizzle along the edges. Pulling it at 70% decarboxylation gives you maximum head effect, and bubble free full decarboxylation provides a more sedative effect.

No one here ever used an oven? I might be gifted a vacuum oven, sure i could reach decarb temp in there?
