Better wild growing?

Grown some bag seed in the past but havent had much success. Always get a little to harvest but no large yields. I plant in multiple locations and the only thing to ever find my plants have been deer. I plant near a water sources and let it go. About half the plants live and the others its hit and miss with some small buds. What can I do to help the initial planting without having to go back and tend them constantly? This is the first year Im buying "good seed" from a seedbank. Im mixing it up with some autos and reg this upcoming year.

A lot of people are probably going to disagree but if you are starting from seed I say buy feminized. That right there pretty much doubles your bud no matter how big they are.

You three main factors are soil, sun, and water. Veg them inside for at least a few weeks before putting them out. Consider digging big holes and filling them with a peat based mix. Amend the soil with your nutrient of choice, but I like to keep it simple and go with a time released nute. A lot cheaper and a lot less guessing imo over bat guana and stuff like that. If you don't plan on tending to them much then time released nutes are the way to go. I started putting a thick layer of mulch down last year for water retention and I feel like that helped significantly. I only had to water from jugs a handful of time.

Chosing the right genetics is important too, but that depends on the type of climate you live in as well as personal preference of course.

80% is having a nice bed of soil that the roots can stretch out into. better roots is bigger buds. if your just planting them in untilled dirt thats step 1. Then its getting a good amount of sunlight. wich is supposedly better if you can get it in the morning rather than late afternoon. As far as tending it at least give em some food evry couple weeks. I used somewhat of a feeding schedual this year and it was better than ive ever done. check out the link in my sig and good luck.

Big holes is the easiest way to grow big plants

Dig a hole that is 3 feet deep and 3 feet wide

get some peat moss, perlite, dolomite lime, and maybe some water retention crystals so you dont need to water as often

also mix in some fertilizers, Fox Farm has a good dry granular fertilizer line called happy frog fert. many are organic +1

for the animals, i used irish spring soap and my piss. i had no problems with deer or rabits

other animal deterrents that can work are mothballs, human hair, dog hair, any scented deodorant or body wash/shampoo, there's also a product called liquid fence

theres a billion different things people use to keep the critters away

yea seems like no matter where your at in the world, there's always something munching on a marijuana plant lol. starting your plants indoors for the first month makes a HUGE difference. One of my biggest problems as well as other growers is slugs, an army of those nasty cocksuckers can destroy plants overnight. The easiest thing I found is to buy a box of slug bait pellets and sprinkle around plants and reapply every 2-4 weeks, I have very little to no slug problems anymore. I don't know how well the human piss thing works, but anytime I'm back at my spot I will piss around the perimeter lol. Rabbits are another big concern where I live, Ive had hundreds of plants wiped out by rabbit throughout the years. The best way is simple chicken wire around the circumference of the plants or plant. I seen somebody mention using soap, and thats a no no around here, it attracts mice and rats like crazy! their attracted to the fat in the soap. Its really about trial and error, every grower thinks their way is the best, you just have to do some experimenting and see what works best for you. Other than that, Give those plants some nice fluffy soil to grow in, lots of light, lots of water and nutrients and aloota luvin and your on your way to some monster plants. hope that helps, happy toking

yeah the fat can attract mice and rodents, just trading one evil for another i guess haha
although i never had problems with rodents

i did have a minor problem with slugs however, there are a few solutions to slug problems.

1. Beer- put out a bowl of beer, the slugs are attracted to it and they will drown when they try to get at it

2. Diatamecious Earth- Sprinkle it around the base of your plant, its like little shards of glass it cuts the slugs when they try to crawl on it

3. Copper Wire- Loosely wrap some copper wire around the stalk of your plant (with enough room for the plant to grow) the copper reacts with the slugs skin or the slimy shit on them

Another preventative thing for deer is to circle your grow with fishing line, it doesnt need to be really heavy line just enough so the deer feels the line. it will spook the deer

Do NOT use this if there is a chance of humans walking around the area as it will arouse suspicion

just learned something from a "old timer" today... he dumps his ash trays close to his plants. He says the wildlife wont come anywhere near them

why do people have problems w/ deer? areas should have plenty of vegies around for them during grow season...

Usually b/c they plant too close to a water source, which is not a good idea to begin with b/c water attracts 2 legged creatures as well.

the only problem with the ashtray is nicotine is deadly for mj----at least ive always heard that.if you want to keep everything easy--go buy 3 --4 cubic foot bags of promix---dig 4 holes put dirt on a piece of plastic throw promix bag in hole--cut out a large circle in upper side---leave until a good rain comes--remove extra soil you put on plastic or in a bucket--if people see a pile of dirt they will look if in the woods.--when you go back soil should be good and wet.poke a few holes in back side of bag for good drainage- i wait to put holes in back to get soil good and wet first--i usually bring 1 or 2 gallon jugs of 1/4 tspoon of 5-1-1 sit 2 or 3 girls in hole--add 5-1-1 mix and walk away--you got at least 30 days or more to check them and feed them---remember use the bag ---holds mosture great!!!if you grow like this--take twine and begin tieing plants and pull them apart so the middles get plenty of sun.

I wish I had the luxury of doing this, problem is I just can't be walking around my grow areas with a full sized shovel and supplies...and then spend an hour or so preparing the bed. Actually I have been meaning to ask this question, how in the hell do you all of you fly under the radar doing it this way?. I'm always limited to a small back pack and my camera, which is the perfect cover as opposed to unloading gardening supplies from the car!.

I think atos are the way to go. Less time = less problems
which equals smaller yields. u wanna get bigger yeilds,, u dont need feminized seed, always expect when planting regular seeds or bagseed that half of them will be male. so out of 10 plants u have 5 female, also take into account that u will lose a percentage of them in the seedling stage, so dnt expect to finish 10 plants from ten seeds. and what u need to do for a good yeild is read a little, do some reasearch, and put as much time love care and devotion as u can allow urself towards ur plant. the more u care for ur plants and apply techniques u learn, the more u get back from them
