Some decently thick screw in hooks work well, as long as you have wood to screw into. If it is wood in a basement you wont even notice the holes. If it is through drywall into wood, a little piece of Spackle will do the trick when you take it down. They only leave one hole in the ceiling opposed to bigger bracket systems.

That^^^^^^

These are also called 'rope ratchets' and are close to the best investment I ever made.

Google rope ratchet and the company that makes these will come up. Those are sunlight supply's branded name, but the company makes industrial tie downs and stuff like that.

The 1/8" are the smallest and will support 75# each, 150# total. You can get larger, much larger.

Got mine off ebay for ~$15/pair. Search rope ratchets.

Old thread..but was looking for the same answer..in the end i found returning my product to be the best solution lol. Way too expensive to buy all the tools necessary to hang it..otherwise hire an electrician at 40$ an hour to do it..either way..not worth the expense. You mhang it up..it stays for less than a minute before it collapses..or after an hour you see the screw halfway falling out lol...i guess you need the proper house and walls to be able to hook one up..doesn't attach to any kind of wall!

Large eye hooks and chain, or you can purchase the large ratchet hangers from amazon.
i think this kit came with ratchet hangers..either way, it has to be installed in the ceiling so it stays..and that's not an option for me. Im not tool saavy at all..will stick with my mars 300 setup lol...maybe its best:)

You have to screw into a stud or use a toggle bolt.

i don't live in my own house..so i have no idea where the studs are..and i dont know what that's an image of..seems it would have to be installed on the other side of the drywall for it to secure..again..construction is not my fortee by any means!!! lol I wont try to hang it..it'll just break lol

It's really not that hard. But I concur that's it's probably best you don't even try if you don't know what a toggle bolt is. No offense. But I don't want to be responsible for a light falling on your head or plants if you don't do it correctly.

This is how it works in case you were curious.

Ya..thats what i was worried about..light falling on the plants. I didn't think it would be that hard, but then again, i dont have any pictures hanging either for that reason..only posters lol. Thanks for the replies...i'll return this light and be safe lol:)

What you need is some sky hooks.

Seriously though if you can hang a mars light why cant you hang a HID. You don't need one with ballast attached. If that's what you have then use a stud finder and cable finder and puts some heavy duty hooks in the beams and use chain to hang the light.
How are you going to get everything else set up if you cant hang a light?

i already have a mars 300 and a cob led hanging..its attached to the underside of a caged grill with ethernet cables and the grill is balancing on 6 feet of bookshelves on either side. I have no more room to put the hps light in there and it would be overkill anyway for the 3x3 it now covers. I tried to mount the hid on chairs and have it aim down..but it gets too hot and is not really secure and the light isnt uniform like that. I dont have stud finders and cable finders and saws and drills..if i have to buy all that to hang a light..i may as well just get a tent..its cheaper. In the end, im sticking with what i currently have..wanted to have this a seperate setup so i can veg and flower at the same time, but its not to be.

Its a bit hard to see..but those cfl's are hanging from the grill..i had the extension cords wrapped around the grills and was raising/lowering them like that. I replaced most of the cfl's with cob led and the mars on the other side. In any case..i think the hps kit was missing screws and or nuts and bolts..only received 2 screws with 9 nuts..2 v clamps which i have no idea where it would go or how..the socket has nothing to secure it to the batwing..so it just dangles there? It's all too complicated..if i buy anything else..it'll be another mars 300..i think i can still squeeze that into my space i have now.

It's your hobby right? It's a cheap hobby compared to others. Just get the sun stand. They are adjustable up and down and left and right. You can put clip fans on them. They support the t-5 and the HPS/MH. Just spend the money on the stand.
