Best rated hoods???

My first box was 48" wide x 18" deep x 72" tall. I had a 400 watt hps/mh with a sun systems hood.

I now have a converted area of my room that's 66" wide x 30" deep x 108" tall. This is now my flowering box and the original box (a locker) is now the veg box.

I am going up to a 600 hps for the flowering room and I need to get a larger hood that's going to work for that area. I'm still fairly new to the equipment available out there.

I was wondering what everyone's opinions were on the best hoods out there. "Best" also means affordable. My sun systems hood works good but I don't have anything to compare it to.

Also, is 600 watts going to be enough? I haven't seen too many 800w out there so I'm guessing they're not that popular, but it might be a nice half-way between the 600 and the 1000.

After doing some research I think I'm going to go with a 600 watt EYE hortilux. Now I just need to find a good hood :-)

No such things as an 800w. For horticultural purposes there are 150, 250, 400, 600 and 1000. The best hood is a P.L light system. You like EYE/Hortilux? Yeah...same company, they are top of the line, but you do pay for it. For that size of enclosure I would run their 600w Midi reflector. Sun system would probably be the second best, but I tell you, I have yet to see anything outperform my 1000w P.L.! GL

I was torn between the 600 and the 1000. I've just heard from so many people that it's really difficult to keep your box cool with a 1000 watt'r. I've got a lot of circulation so I imagine I could keep it cool. But, would it be overkill for the box I have? Wouldn't want to waste my money on a 1000 watt setup when a 600 watt would do the same.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look them up.
