Best/most essential -supplements- for a dwc grow?(:

hiya all,

Looking to expand from a typical 3 part to some additional additives to ensure I get the best grow possible. I've grown some pretty hefty 4 oz autos before using nothing but grow micro bloom so I know they're not essential, but im wondering what sort of magic secret you might have that you wish you had started doing years ago! Overall im looking to learn, not just a quick fix, so general theory/nutrient types would be way more interesting and informative to me than just listing some name brand(: so far im gonna add the quintessential calmag+ type supplement and see how that goes for me, and im thinking some sort of root booster for faster branching and to protect from potential root rot(:

let me know if there's anything else you use that you'd rank just as essential as typical npk! I've looked at all sorts of bloom boosters but they seem kind of gimmicky and I wouldn't know which one to pick so that might help. Also, does clonex really help clones THAT much? I wouldn't know, I've always cloned without it.

If you can think of anything else you might add id love to hear it!!(:

Thanks<3

Namaste and all that!!

I was also planning on playing around with DWC on my next grow. From what I have researched, the only supplement that might be worthwhile is potassium silicate, which I already use in my coco DTW setup. Following to see if anyone else has any DWC tips

I’m new to hydroponics, 6 weeks into flower on my first RDWC run, so by no means an expert. But I have been using these 5 additives with Jack’s 3-2-1 nutrients from day one and I’m very pleased with my results so far.
Silica - for “Increased resistance to waterborne pathogens, disease and pests. Increased stress, drought and salt tolerance. https://manicbotanix.com/silicon-in-hydroponics/ .
From a post on THC Farmer I read “Dr. Bruce Bugbee’s research suggests ~3ppm Si as an average for recirculating hydroponic crops … so 2.5ml per 10 gallons to achieve that 3ppm”. That’s the rate I’ve been running with.
Fulvic Acid – “Enhances cell growth, increases nutrient uptake and transportation, increases silica absorption, stimulates plant immune system, stimulates cell division and enhances the permeability of cell membranes. https://manicbotanix.com/fulvic-acid-hydroponics/ .
Chitosan – “It has been shown that fungal, bacterial and viral plant pathogens may be controlled by chitosan application. … chitosan application has also been shown to increase yields, independent of pathogenic disease control, in several agricultural crops. Further, research has shown that chitosan increases flavonoids and terpenoids”. https://manicbotanix.com/chitosan/ . A good discussion on Chitosan and application rates. https://www.rollitup.org/t/chitosan-sources-use.936998/ . I use Hyshield at the reduced rate suggested in this thread.
Triacontanol and brassinosteroids - Plant growth regulators https://manicbotanix.com/triacontonal/ , https://www.humboldtseeds.net/en/blog/plant-growth-regulators-weed/ . For this I use Vitazyme http://vitalgrowdistribution.com/ingredients.html .
Beneficial Microbes - https://manicbotanix.com/root-disease-prevention-and-management/ . Beneficial bacteria seems to be much more effective in hydro then fungi so I selected King Crab by Plant Revolution which has a variety of eleven different bacteria at very high concentrations. https://plantrevolution.com/products/king-crab-liquid-beneficial-bacteria-hydroponics?variant=37856597967001

I like hydro a lot. Been using Gen Hydro with FloraNova as a base all along. Just switched to Jack's 3-2-1 this last grow. My plants really liked it; so I like it. No additives, just the Part A and B, plus Walmart's Equate brand epsom salts. I use Cyco's PH adjusters and my tap water. That's it. I worked out to $1.62 Canadian dollars for a 30 gallon tank. Maybe cost me $15 to run my 11 week flower. If it interests you, the grow is in my signature.

That's all you need. You don't need all the other stuff people seem to think they need.
