Hey everyone, I was wondering what you think the best light would be for the cheapest price ? And also where to purchase it if you make a suggestion. Also, by "cheap" I mean 1-2 hundy at most.

Ebay my man. You can get a 600 watt hps with digital ballast for $200 or a 400 watt set up for about $180.

Start with how much space you have AND how much product you want to grow. If you're looking for a pound you need 1000w but you also need the space for it and the cooling to go with it. If you just want a small personal stash, as in a couple to four ounces 400w or even less can do that.

Craigs list can be a good source if you are patient. I see 1000w setups for 200-225 sometimes. Not to say that there aren't those trying to get new prices either. Of the 9 ballast I have only 3 are new.

i was just growing it in my room in big plant pots and hanging the light over them from the ceiling,it'd be max 4-5 plants

ok, then how big is the room? You are talking a room that's lightproof 12 hours a day correct? Very important for flowering.

It doesn't sound like he knows about light/dark periods for flowering, good thing you pointed that out.

Aren't the quantum digital ballasts the one that many many retailers stopped carrying because of stupid high failure rates? Just curious but I think so...

lol, i got 10,000 lumens worth of flowering CFLs for $12 at walmart. Only six bulbs, takes up about 10in X 8 in.

i'm in love with my quantum ballasts... not even a hiccup out of them!

i've been running 2 600s for the last few months...

i would say - make sure you dont cheap out on the bulb... get a hortalux... they make a big difference - i've seen side-by-side comparisons... HUGE difference... hortalux is much better...

my room is probably 12'x10' but the plants would be within a 3'x3' or 4'x4' space, and yes it is,i have plants growing already and they're in flowering 12/12,i just don't have a good quality light because i had to scramble to get one last second and i only had about $30 and no info on what i should get,so the next crop i wanted to obtain a better light source so my plants don't take as long or turn out as small as they did

htgsupply.com has about the cheapest of anyone, they also have an ebay store. They have cooltube and etc. combos on ebay. From what ive researched htgsupply.com is the cheapest and thats the only place ive ordered from. Plus is somewhat discreet, htg supply on the brown box. Where as others advertise hydroponics and grow supplies on their boxes. Although nothing to worry about i would rather have peace of mind. Happy growing.
