Best LED comparable to 1000W HPS

Are the Mars hydro 2000’s or 3000’s decent? What’s the average yield from these lights? How’s bud quality compared to HPS? Thanks!
I got some knock off spider farmers. Knock offs of knock offs. Haha. Im doing pretty well with them. The mixjoy 4000 and the maxisun 4000pb. Probably looking at a pound each off them. The next lights I buy are gonna be the hortibloom 650w or these...

LED compared to 1k HPS is a tricky one because the HPS will have intense penetration. Because of that I think going with a DIY LED setup which uses 5050 type high-powered diodes is the best bet. That said, I'd go for 5 QB96's at 150watts each, for a total of 750watts. I'd place them with one in each corner, plus one in the center, and I'd hang the center unit a bit higher than the rest.

Will the led really save that much power? I basically need the equivalence of three-four 600w HPS lights.
My 600W kit easily replaces a 1000W HPS
350-400W or so should replace a 600W HPS

A decent metric is about 60% of HID, but that changes as they become more and more efficient.

It's not just the light that you save money on. The inefficiency of HPS means you typically need vented hoods and or air conditioning. They heat up your leaves more which tends to cause more humidity issues as your plants transpire more water.

I've saved quite a bit more money by removing air conditioning entirely, removing vented hood fans that run as long as the lights do, and reducing the frequency of dehumidifier runs. One dehumidifier handles all my tents now. My electrical costs per area covered and amount of cannabis produced has dropped significantly. You couldn't pay me to run HPS again.

I believe you are a bit backwards. LED requires more dehumidification :peace:

Tell that to my rooms then. I coded my own thermo system and run 4 tents. There's no comparison
Didn't mean to come off as a dick. Now that I read it again, it seems like it. Sorry.

I found the lower leaf temps allowed me to completely remove dehums from each tent, and just run a single one in the outer room. The outer room also has an exhaust fan that controls its temperature.

Each tent's exhaust, running on a wifi plug, is triggered by both high RH or high temperature. The outer room just keeps my feeder air a couple degrees cooler and several RH % points below the high limits in the tents and they just circulate that air. It works slick and I have to remind myself to check the one dehum tray because the frequency has dropped from multiple tents nightly, sometimes twice, to the outer rooms dehum only once or sometimes twice a week.

I love my 1000 watters and 630 cmh. I still rock the HID route but I do run a sealed room with mini split so that makes things easier. For led would say the gavita 1700e gen 2, fluence spydr and hlg 650r. Few people over on the the thugpug section get killer results with there hlg 650. Good luck!

I am just finishing a run with some high stressed stretched out baby’s that I decided to run to see how the tsl’s would do. They produced dense aromatic buds that I just am bitting at the bit to harvest (-: and they yielded better than I had hoped considering they were badly root bound as well. This picture is from about a week ago. You be the judge... she’s still 3 weeks out from harvest. P.S. I removed the fans after the photo was taken.

They produced dense aromatic buds that I just am bitting at the bit to harvest (-: and they yielded better than I had hoped considering they were badly root bound as well. An LED may only draw around 60% the wattage of a HPS light covering the same area. That alone isn't the only energy savings. In large grows that use AC to cool the room, you are fighting less heat AND due to the fact the LED light lacks infrared we require warmer canopy temperatures to achieve optimal leaf surface temperatures and thus optimal growth rates. So the AC not only has to cool less watts, the set point is higher by about 5 degrees on average. Therefore the energy savings on the cooling is often greater than the savings on the lighting itself.

And
"We get fatter, more dense buds with HPS"

I hear both these arguments from HPS growers, sometimes even the same person, yet somehow LED, despite losing in these key categories, match or surpass HID gpw wise. So at least one of those has to be a lie lol!

It seems more like desperate grasps at straws to justify using an obsolete system.
