Best ISPs in Portland (aka Comcast Sucks)

I just got my Comcast internet bill and it was $81 for one month. I initially signed up for 15Mbps and it was $30. After three months they automatically boosted my Mbps to 25 and charged me $45. When I called today I found ouy they boosted me to 50Mbps and raised my rate to $81/mo. This HAS to be illegal. I am under no contract so I am free to move about the cabin.

What is everyone else getting/paying?

I am not a gamer and do not need lightening fast service. We barely watch Netflix.

Thanks for your input.

If they didn't get approval for the boost I am sure they will credit back the difference. I not fan of Comcrap but they are pretty good about that. Just have them lower it back down, and credit you the rest.
As for other ISP's if you want broadband it depends. If Verizon is your local phone carrier you can go with FIOS through Frontier. Verizon used to rock, but sold it to Frontier. This is the best because it if fiber optics to your front door. Comcrap only offers fiber to the node, from the node to your door it is cooper. Plus with Comcrap you are sharing your bandwidth with everyone on your node, and they frown on file sharing. With FIOS your bandwidth is all yours to do with it what you want. Some places that are AT&T have fiber as well, but I'm not sure of those areas. I hope this helps.
