hi guys...its me again....i wanted to contribute back a little for all the advice i have been given on here.

First off...let me say that i was inspired by bb57's idea with the coolers. Thank you BB57...without that idea...my crop would probably be in the garbage by now!

However for me, the coolers seemed to me to require too much water, so at first, i tried smaller coolers (48 qt) 2 plants per cooler. While it did keep the temps down...i didnt love the setup...still too much water, and plants were crowded.

in the end, after another painful decision to dump my previous idea, i opted to go with the coleman 5 gallon team jug. They sell at walmart for $22.00
( i needed 12...OUCHIE!)

let me say that after the mods to the lid to fit the net pot, and a hole for the air line...they are working out wonderful! they are slighly taller and skinnier than 5 gallon buckets, which works out beautifully for the air circulation, and room for longer roots

like BB pointed out...if you are thinking about doing DWC in 5 gallon buckets...it is goiong to be a constant battle keeping the heat out of the buckets.

one more note....i was tired of lifting the lid all the time to check the temps. so i found these temperature moniters for 8$ at cabelas. It is the best money i have spent yet...take a look...nothing else like it in this price range!

good luck...if anyone is really interested in doing this, drop me a line and i will try to steer ya in the right direction.

dude for a newbi or nebody thats a fuckin genious idea ive been battlin temps in my 5 gal buckets for years and pull up to a lb a 5galbucket at the most with my temps in the 75-77 range. i know if i was to be walkin through walmart and saw them id buy em out. i considered usin 20gal team cooler but felt like it would be a waste of nutes and space these are perfect. good lookin out bro im gonna be gettin some of these asap. free delivery to .
what light u usin? those buckets can kick some ass man. plenty of air is the key. nice healthy veg time and good light and nutes. but i just remembered u got 22? are they gonna be linked up if not thats a ton of work i run 6-8 under 2-3k and find it a nightmare at times doin swaps i couldnt imagine doin 22 seperate buckets. do u have a thread for your grow would love to see more pics? what strain u runnin?
thanks again for pointin these buckets out!
peace stone

thanks stoney..luckily, i am only doing 12...i thought about recirculating....but i am a sterilization freak, and im sure i couldnt live thinking about what microbes i might of missed in all of them extra pipe fittings, grommets, valves etc. as far as my strain, i have some Master kush, ak-47, power plant, lemon skunk, and i bought the white label feminized seed mix so 4 of them i cant identify. ( it pisses me off,...i bought the seed mix thinking that they would be identified, but nope) so i have a mixed bag.

12 buckets is a lot though...especially when i have changed the water evry 3rd day or so because of my battle with root rot. and oh yeah...Free SHIPPING?? ...that is the bomb!...i scoured all the walmarts around here. free delivery would have been much easier!...i have no thread yet because i have only been askin questions up til now....when i have something to contribute, i will surely be posting!!!

yeah, a couple tweaks and you will produce like I do,,,

Tip 2

More air stones. 3 more per bucket. Stop running them round pieces of crap.
In those I'd run 4, 4 inch stones. Flat ones.
It'll give you more bud in the end.

Still loving yer set up. And you could produce like
madds with more bubbles.

DAMN LR !

I'm impressed and fuggin jealous at the same time ! :finger:
If I ever decide individual buckets, I'm not only jumping on your band wagon, I'ma drive that sumbitch too ! lmao kiss-ass

Just so happens I picked up 4 - 14 inch flat air stones from wally world today @ like $3.70ea. Two per 48qt cooler.
I like that thermostat too. I'm using a indoor/outdoor model, so my combo meter reads a degree cooler at least.

LR, you mention your plants were too crowded at 2 per cooler. What size pots were they in and how big were the plants ?
Thanks, and again NICE SET UP !!!!

how long do u plan on veggin? and what kind of lights? im assumin hps cause u had root rot due to temps? i cant wait for myne to get here. i have a feelin u may have ur hands full with 12 these but best of luck especially if u r green. can u describe ur grow? i can just see myself movinaround 12 plants a day under 5-6k and cursin myself. especially a mixed crop how many watts is my main ?i love how these buckets produce and my best advice i can give ya is they like space i cant see packin em in and being productive and convient it will be a nightmare in flowerr and they fill up with roots.1 plant per i just finished a led grow where i got 3zips per out of the buckets. with ufos i dont mean to bother ya with all the ??? but these thing got me suped up. thats great advice to add more airstones i use micro-pore bosshog airstones 1 per and its great they last forever andproduce air like crazy .i hate the blue ones and found the discs eventualy seperate. these are the greatest thing i found since u pointed up the cooler. simple to clean they are made by deepwaterinnovations. they helped cure my root rot issues. bb- u should def checked em out if ur a air junkie like me . i used ti run muutlpes and found these suckers.they are def worth the money. i havent bought an airstone in years! best of luck lookin foward to the show

hey stone....as far as vegging goes....i am just waiting to regrow some roots, since i had to cut someroot mass of to maintain health, otherwise they would be in the bud room already.

i started off under 600 watt Metal halide but there was too much heat. so i switched to flourescents for my veg cycle. i bought 2qty-4foot 8 bulb t5 units (6500k)they seem to be lovin this!. i keep the light RIGHT above them, when i was running the metal halide, i wound up 36 inches above the plant for heat reduction (and lumen reduction). i even tried a inline cooling fan thru my reflective hood with the MH, but it wasnt cool enuff. Now i will use my hood and ballast to run HPS in the bud room.

as far as keepion an eye on all the strains??? its going to be a bear!!!, but i do have rolling carts that i keep them on.

my grow is to new to say that i have a concrete system, but with all the research i have done, and all the rookie mistakes i have made, im hoping that things will smooth out and i can start waiting 2-3 days without even popping the lid on these babies!

stoney,...are you using them 65$ air stones (boss hogs) in the buckets? OUCH!!! im interested but DAMN!!!!

Okay this is what I need to do .. I want to grow but where i live is the fucking desert no joke its like at least 110 today. anyways i saw a ice chest in one of the pics what size did you use I want to make one to grow 4 plants and maybe another 4 buckets (or coolers now). my main concern has been air and temp since its so damm hot here. My beans will arrive sometime early next week .

Yep ... totally had to utilize this idea. Would you care to go a little more in depth in how you modified the lid of the bucket? In the pictures it looks as if you have extruded some of the plastic and then put some sort of insulation in it's place. Thanks for the idea -- this is one of those ones where I said "Why the hell didn't I think of that ..." Kudos to both you and BB57.

Ok, ok, I'm sold

After having great results with a junk made DWC cloning set-up I made last year, I'm definately doing DWC for my complete grow this time, and thanks to your input, I can avoid water heat issues, that I would not have known about until too late.

I really love those air stones by deepwaterinnovations, and plan to use them with my multi-plant igloo cooler set-up.

I also like the single site, team cooler idea, but because of the higher cost of the massive airstones I intend to use the multi-plant setup will work best for me right now, but I bet you can get huge plants with those.

+rep to all three of you guys for your forward thinking

bb57 you should manufacture and sell your set-up online!

y dont you just get a seprate cooler run some half inch hosing thru it coil it in there and put frozen soda bottles in it then have your res water run thru that i heard it keeps your res temps around 67- 68f depending how much ice or frozen water bottles you put in there

Any links for this idea..?

Fantastic idea. I just trashed my buckets today and started the process of replacing them because of you. I will tweak it a bit for RDWC though. Great job my friend and best of luck.
