wormsway is having a sale on the boss hog ceramic diffuser - I may take the opportunity to switch to them.

Does anyone have any pics of the bubble action from these? And how many would you need for a 30 gal tote?
It would depend on what you wanted the bubble action to do - if just oxygenate I'd say 2, if to drive the feeding until roots are in the water probably 4. I plan to use 2 of those doubles in 6 gal of water.

I agree there, those air stones are the nicest I have ever used
I took his advice and got one and boy am I glad I did
Well worth the money, much sturdier than any other air stone I have ever used
And the bubbles are awesome, super small but lots of them

Way to go tom_420

I have the double 5 1/4
I don't have any pics at the moment as that grow is in a different house than the one I live in
If I remember I will post pics in here next time I go over and take them
I am using a little less than what is recommended for the stone (liters per minute wise) and it still is kicking ass
Here is a link to the pump I am using: http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/ItemMatrix.asp?GroupCode=HPAEP0&MatrixType=2&selelement1=undefined&selelement2=undefined&selelement3=undefined&selelement4=undefined&selelement5=undefined

Placed my order for two of the doubles. If they come soon I'll switch to them for my current grow.

I have bought them all and used them all, the 12" from any store work well for 1 or 2 grows, I find that they clog half way down, The stones with plastic are crap you need to glue them down or they flip over. Bubble curtains are nice but hard to keep down. Eco plus are good if you have a big enough air pump. Micro pore are awesome but for the price. Basically you want little bubbles like champagne. Bubble disks work well for buckets. The flexible wands 3'-4' are my favorite, good price, little bubbles, last forever, unless you tear off the tip when taking the air tubing off. You can run 4- 12" air stones off a 2 port air pump or 2- 3' flexible wands work the best in 5-15 gal. res.

The guy at my hydro store turned me away from the micro-pore diffusers saying you had to clean them periodically with HCl acid...no thanks I like to keep my HCl in the chemistry lab where it belongs.

From what I read from the Aquarium guys, it isn't the bubbles, it's the fact the bubbles disturb the surface tension, and add to the area, you can do the same thing with an aquarium power head without the noise of the air stones, and yes like a lot of people have said air stones are a hassle luckily you can get the same effect from another hobby for less than those micro pores for sure, and I'm guessing since the power head has a better agitation effect, you will have more oxygen in your water.

you've posted on a very old thread my friend , and yes those micropores are shit when they clog, very nice out of the bag but after a grow the company will sell you a rejuvenator(chemical) to make them good as new, possibly the stuff the guy up there mentioned.
