Best ~200$ lighting option

hey team,

looking for lighting options in the 200$ range, no access to AC at the moment, and working with a 80X80X160 CM tent.

currently running 2 Viparspectras but I'm not happy with the performance, so will be returning them and looking at other options...

is a 600watt HID overkill for this size tent without AC, or could temps be managed with a decent exhaust and a clip on fan on the ballast itself.

Thanks for any info

So roughly 2.5 ft x 2.5.ft. 600 is probably too much, one of the 315 cmh's would be much better (but they are well over $200).

I would personally use Quantum (and I am in a 3x3 tent). 2 boards, push them to 120-150 watts each, dimmable. Total project cost ~$250.

If $200 is really your bottom line, look for a used 400 w hps air cooled hood, used mag ballast, and get a new bulb.

Not an expert in lighting, but that's what I've seen the experts saying.

try 2-Vero 29's at 2100mA and you might be at $200 or close. pushed harder you can get 200w out of 2 cobs and one driver

not sure I can pull off DIY quantum, plus ordering from outside of the EU is a PITA for VAT 20% additional sales tax :(

so if im running 3 autos in my tent, 400 would be enough output?

cheers

400 would be enough for sure but may run a little hot. The 2 veros would do a great job, the 400 watt vero framework would rock that tent but would be more like 500 bucks, you'd easily gain the extra 300 in the first Grow though.

Use a19/e27 whatever the standard socket is there and hook them up with y socket adapters. Those will get you going nicely.

Then when you get some money and figure out what you want to do, you can use those bulbs elsewhere and get a better return on investment.

try to find something like below in the EU and then just upgrade the cobs to any 36v chip you'd like. You should be able to complete the job for around $200

Joe (great name by the way ;) Joe club here as well)

Would something like this be an option? Or does the square shape pose an issue for the chip swap?

We are sending stock to a guy in the EU soon. So stay tuned we will have a distributor out your way when the next batch arrives.

think i will try my hand at a DIY upgrade to a roleadro 400 watt (4 COBs) fingers crossed I can pull it off, sending back my lights and tent today, going to upgrade to a 1mx1mx2m for some more head room. if all else fails i will bite the bullet and run with a 600 watt HID

or would something like this one be easier to swap? and you say any 36V chip would be compatible ? some other had suggested the 1212 to me are these a good option?

also, how would i be able to tweak the usage to around 50 watts per chip? is this possible, or do i have to run it at the pre determined output
go with this one. and you'll have (4) extra drivers because it comes with 8 for the cobs.

precisely the one i have been looking at Joe, next question is: should i get 4 mid level spectrum chips (4000k) or 2 each of 2700 and 6500
depends on the cob brand, cri, and and what you're doing (vegging only, flowering only, or both). I'm not the best for that, unfortunately.

@CobKits may be able to shed some light on what may be the best fit for you, for (4) 36v chips at 1200mah for 5.2sq ft. you'll need to confirm if vegging, flowering, or both though.

out of stock :( but i notice on the graph the 4000k peaks higher in the blue spectrum and more or less the same for red as the 3500, can anyone link me to the growmau5 vid?

Cheers
