Of about 3-5 plants, and I need suggestions. This will be my first grow. I was thinking of purchasing a couple lamps that have 3-5 lights on them. And was going to do 18/6 with 400 watt florescent lights (any specific kind work best for yield or potency). I was going to use some store bought soil.... anything specific to increase yield or potency??

I should also mention that I have only a 150$ budget to start off.

Can any one help me boost thissss

People grow them in their backyard, with no care. I'm sure with 150$ budget, and care, I could get a nice plant or two.

my advice on the budget is to buy things you need a few things at a time until you have everything you need. start with the msot expensive stuff first. and then buy cheaper thigns as you need them. this is how im doing mine, ive got my tent my lights fans and carbon filter already so thats the biggest expenses down, now as i get more money i can get things like soil nutrients and seeds :)

Hey bigbull52 it is very possible to grow great medicine on a low budget. I would invest in blue spectrum lights for veg, example 6500k cfl lights. Cheap and low heat. Just make sure to keep them close to the plants. As far as soil try to stay away from Miracle Grow or any others that have a lot if time released nutrients. These soils make it hard to feed and micromanage what your plant needs when. A good potting soil mixed with strained topsoil, perlite, dolomite lime, worm castings, Epsom salt is a good start. Basically a homemade soil mix. Also do not overwater and if you can I highly suggest a ph meter. Hope this helps!

high man, here's a light setup you can put together for very small money and if you use 23 and 26watt bulbs you can often find them in 4 packs for under $10.00 plus, you can also often find $3.00 rebates to bring the cost down to about $1.50 per bulb, ...these pictured all use 23 and 26watters so each fixture is approx. 200watts.

...and here's a few links that can teach you a way to grow that is very simple and simple is a good place to be when first starting out, ...there will be plenty of time in the future for you to complicate things, lol.

...this first link is to a thread on a passive form of hydroponics that is brain-dead simple to use and because it's passive, there are no pumps or other hardware that can fail, ...in this thread the growing medium is a perlite/vermiculite mix but i and many others prefer straight coco, it's similar to soil as far as working with it.

The Official Hempy Bucket Thread

...this next is to maybe the simplest feeding regimen there is, ...just 1 tspn of powder per gallon of water, from seed to harvest.

*The K.I.S.S. Method*

...this next is to maybe the simplest method of cloning.

World class cloner new at walmart

...and this last is a bit more advanced but it deals with the orientation of your light.

Benefits of Vertical Growing

...anyway, if you study these threads and apply what they offer i promise you you can't fail.

Im trying to avoid making my own mixture for now. What do you think would be the best to put it in as a seedling all the way to florwering, or should i change mixture at some point?

Thanks for the links, I will definitely look into them.
As for my lighting, Im going to go to walmart and buy some of those lamps that have like 6 heads or what ever, and you can bend the light and all that. That way i can have multiple lamps all different angles. you know? sound good?

those fixtures i posted above are multi-bulb bathroom vanity fixtures with Y splitters in them to double the number of bulbs you can fit and i got them at a local discount builders supply house for under $5.00 each, ...if you go to Lowes or Home Depot you'll pay full retail but even that will only be about $20.00 and the splitters run around $2.00 each.

...whatever fixtures you end up using what you want is a blend of reds and blues with the blue at a 3 to 1 ratio for vegging and with the reverse for flowering, ...what you're trying to do is replicate the sun which is more blue in the spring and more red in the fall due to the angle that sunlight hits our planet.

I would try, if possible, to get her into a new soil mix come flowering. Something light and not too dense or compact is good. What I have found in the past is using Miracle Grow the whole way through, is that come flowering it is still releasing excess nitrogen that is not needed for flower. A little N is ok but I have found MG soil to be slightly hot. With a good base soil for flower, you can add nutrients as you go. This way you don't risk the final product. Miracle Grow can give the final product a harsh taste and affect overall smell and taste. But you are well on your way man keep it up! And the light idea you have should work fine. Just bend those lights as close as possible to your plant.

I'd skip what bozo's saying... I understand where he's coming from... but the cfl thing isn't going to be any better than a 250w setup... and may even cost more...

Do the math... his CFL kit shows 24 lights...

24x$1.5=$36 for bulbs
+ $5 each for bases = 15 or $20 at lowes for $60 total
+ adaptors run about $2 each... 12x2= 24
36 + 15 + 24 = $75 ....
or 36 + 60 + 24 = $120 if bought from lowes/home depot...

you see where I'm going with this... People spend way too much money buying the cheap stuff..

you can get a new 250w setup for the same cost... or even a used 400w-600w setup for that price...

here's a new setup for like $115..
