I've done this before but not so detailed just cut the can side out and placed it over CFL this is well thought out and great guide. +rep to you sir.

Dude...+rep seriously. I am VERY broke atm running on 212 W for 4 small plants one foot and a halfer (before flower), and I need reflectors bad. This is perfect! I am gonna make em in a few minutes. Thanks!

Nicely done man. Innventive while recycling at the same time:) Gonna start making a big ass reflector tomorrow to go with my homemade bubbler. Pics to follow. Your post has saved alot of people alot of money.:peace:

The only obne to pick I have with this is that the cans get VERY hot osmetimes...otherwise still great!

yeah but who cares they act like heat sinks because they are not pumping out light like your bulbs so they could get as hot as your bulb and still not be putting as much heat into your room kinda cool how that works. I polished my cans with metal polish and used the heineken keg cans i just cut it in half down the middle and then i add the slits at the top later IF i need them some cans may not need that to get the right shape.

here is the problem with those clamp lights you cant fit as many bulbs under them as i would like look at my thread in my sig. Im running four bulbs per socket i cannot run one of those reflectors plus the shape is round these guys you can focus exactly where you want. Oh and FYI try using Heineken Keg cans they are a perfect shape to get two reflectors out of that cover the bulb real nice and direct light real good too. Oh and also those home depot reflectors arent shiny like that picture they are much duller than can surface.

Thanks a lot man, I had one light with no reflector and it was noticeably smaller than the other ones..

Update on the heini cans they worked way better than standard soda cans or any other can i tried for that matter gave me the best reflective footprint plants growin beast now scope the thread in my sig for pics

just a little tip for anyone who plans on using pop cans (under 21) for this, use diet pop it it much less sticky! learned the hard(or sticky) way
