Hey Rollitup,

I wanted to share my grow journal with the community here. I am excited as this is my first time to start growing. I've always wanted to grow but what stopped me was I never had the space to grow it in. Finally the cabinet idea came to me while reading some other forums.

Please feel free to comment,
Thanks!

Well this is my set up:

I'm winging it, off lots of prior research. With cheap stuff from local hardware store, mostly Lowes.

Generic outdoor potting soil
Perlite
I would like to research and experiment with fertilizers later.

Fiberboard oak finish storage cabinet
L30'' x W18'' x H48'' + (removable H12'' for storage)
Lined with Mylar 1mm

1 x 2' 24 Watts T5 6400k fluorescent light w/ reflective hooding
Jumpstart Hydrofarm

2 x 120mm case fans

I lowered the light with in a couple inches of the soil. I'm thinking it will keep the dirt nice and warm.

Also I'm going to leave the light on all day till it starts popping out of the soil.

Hey man, thanks for the interest in my setup.

I'm doing an experiment... even though this is my first time grow

I have 1 T5 fluorescent tube light, which is 2 foot long

It is 24 watt

I hope with the Mylar lining the plants will get enough light.

So far so good.

Going to run a 24/0 veg cycle

I attached the PC fans to the back wall of the cabinet

It is made of a thick cardboard material

cut 2 circle holes in it, place a fan over each hole

So looks like one of my seedlings died. Went ahead and started germinating another one. Should be ready soon to put in the soil.

I got my fans hooked up now! 120mm case fans, one intake another for outake. Seems to be pretty decent air flow.

Between day 3 and 4 there were no big changes.

Having predicted one of my plants died early, I started germinating a seed on day 2 after the others had already popped above soil.

So on day 5 I planted my newly germinated seed.

The next day it was already poking out the soil.

Check out these pics to watch how a new seedling grows
