Bean hoarding

Who else here gots the sickness? Sense I started growing again I find myself compulsively buying more seeds....at least once a month I’m ordering more...... Hell I just got 4 packs in the mail yesterday lol (4/20 promo of course ). I just decided to catalog my Library and I’ve accumulated almost 80 packs!

Should I seek help? Bean hoarders anonymous perhaps ?

I’m the same way, and have been for 15+ years. I’ll never grow them all, but can’t stop myself from buying. I breed too, and i mainly grow what i breed. It is a sickness. ha ha. I am even consideing buying a refrigerator just to store them all.

I’ve definitely got issues when it come to buying seeds,like you I couldn’t help myself when the 4/20 sale came..I haven’t counted how many but I have two big zip lock bags full..

Well I’ve got one large zip lock bag full....so your at least double what I’ve got.

The first step to recover is to admit you have a problem.......2nd would be to actually count how many pack you have so you can face the reality of your affliction lol.

I used to be...but recently germed my entire collection and got bad results. My advice is to only buy what you can use now (or soon)

Unless you're a Prepper and waiting for society to collapse...so you can be the go-to guy for mj seeds.

I just caught the affliction. I'm trying to keep it to what I will grow in the next two cycles...not working! lol So many strains, so little grow room!

That sounds like my worst fear lol. How do you store your seeds? I’ve read all types of recommendations.......some say fridge, other freezer......personal I just keep them tucked away in a box, double zip locked bagged in my cold cellar. Temps never go above 55 same with humidity.....Who knows.

I am popping packs mind you, but usually just one per round. I just gave a pack to a friend who I trust greatly, so he can do all the work and just give me back the keeper...

I also just bought 15 plant sexing test from https://www.farmerfreeman.com/order. They had a 4/20 sale so I said fuck it. Basically all you do is cut the cotyledon leaf and use a smash card to collect the sample then mail in the cards to get the results by email. So
Only looking at 2-3 weeks turn around to find out the sex.

I'm sick with the sickness. Have 1000s$ worth of seeds and I keep buying them. I will never grow them all. Two years ago I popped 10 year old Paradise seeds I had in the fridge all these years. I had 100% germination rate. So I believe fridge storage works for the long term. Here are some InzGittlez seeds from my garden.

I go with the fridge in an air tight non see thru container with rice.

Not sure if the plant testing has to do with a company that was called out on insta ? People were sending in plant samples for testing.But the company is keeping peoples genetics via tissue culture,basically stealing peoples genetics.

Ive had no issues with seeds that are currently almost 10 years old. Infact I have a nic e C99 mother vegging now from seeds i got about 9 years ago. I put my seeds into the refrigerator as soon as I get them with desiccant packs.

You're right CC=storage is everything. I moved several times and the seeds were exposed to varying conditions. Some were over 20 years old. Got one really old Widow, one G13Widow and a couple others but lost the nametags.. That's out of about 200 seeds. At least I got something out of all that money I spent. lol

I've bought a few seeds, but most of my collection were gifted to me, or I made them myself. But yes, I save seeds. I keep mine in the freezer. I lost my old seed collection in the 11 years that I stopped smoking and growing. Had to ask friends and family for seeds when I started back. Didn't like that feeling at all.

10 years is good to hear. I just need to make sure I keep track of when I got my seeds. Writing them all done helps keep track for sure.

No it’s not the one your thinking of @phylosbio is the scum your thinking of. Farmer freeman just do plant sexing.

I have a container of mystery seeds I've collected since the 1980's and I haven't kept them refrigerated or anything. I tried to germinate 6 a few weeks ago and not one of them popped. The weed wasn't that great back then anyway....lol

Just to throw in my two cents.. I find that I don't overly think about my seed storage for any kind of plant. I just keep them in the dark and at room temperature and I find they last for at least 10 years. But the one thing that I believe really helps make seeds last (especially cannabis seeds) is : Don't pour them out into your hands and play with them every time you remember they are there. I think a lot of people dump them out into their dirty,oily hands and then look at them and pinch them between their fingers etc and then put them away til the next time they remember the seeds and then do it all again..

I try to never handle them until they are being planted. Not saying that handling seeds is 100% bad but I just never handle them and find they store at room temp in the dark for ages no problem.

I told everyone that would listen about @phylosbio, but no one believed me! Decades of proprietary work gone...fucking scumbag thieves!

I’ve definitely thought about using the plant sex ID kit,but I usually can get copies at around 4-5 weeks from seed...then into flower with the moms to be sexed.its a bit time consuming when you have more than 30 plants,plus I like to get 2-4 copys from each plant just in case some don’t want to take.
