BC Northern Lights Producer Grow

Ive not long had this beast of a grow cab and only ever done a trial run with a few different strains so as to get the right one for this cab. These cabs are not suitable for alot of strains, strains that stretch like fuck and push out side branches are really not ideal so with that in mind i have gone with cheese by Dinafem as this is a small compact plant and it did well in my trial run.

I have made a few mods to this cab, first i have used 125mm duct spigots on the exhaust fans and one on the intake, these really should be included as standard for the price of the cab along with 125mm ducting because without them the cab is just gonna pull all the hot air from the lights right back into the the cab. I have also lost the drip lines as I'm not a fan of drip systems so i have rigged up a sprinkler system instead, Ive also lost the air stones in favour of air curtains and added an extra pump for flooming to aid in D/O in the res.

The nutes i will be using are sensi grow/bloom from advanced nutrients and i only ever use RO water in hydro.

These ladies are all from seed, they are about 4 weeks old and have been in the cab for 5 days and were flipped straight to 12/12, they could have done with an extra week of 18/6 but I'm outta bud and eager to see what this cab does. I'm hoping for an ounce per plant, so that's enough waffle from me here's some pics so far.

They cost 3k but i got this from some fella who bought it new didnt like it and it sat in his garage for a few months unused. Ive had my eye on these things for a while so when i offered him 2k he agreed, he kept all the nutes and stuff though but even so i had a right result.

Isn't it a 400w light? I considered getting this but the price is ridiculous. How many plants?
yes mate, two 400w air cooled on digi ballasts so you have the super lumens switch as well. It holds 18 plants and your right they are a bit pricey but they are very well made, odor proof and fully automated all you need do is top up the res and keep an eye on your PH and EC.

UPDATE
OK so its the end of the first week of 12/12, everything is going to plan. Im using sensi grow untill the end of week 2 then around that time ill change to bloom nutes, EC is 0.5 this may sound low to some but these are young plants and im using RO water 0.0 EC and you dont need a high EC in this type of hydro system, i will increase this to 0.7 EC by week 2 but probably wont go above 0.9 EC the entire grow i will let the plants tell me what they want rather than the back of a nute bottle. PH is bang on 5.8 and res temp is 21 so everything is where it should be.

The loudest thing on the system i would say is the air pump, theres also 5 fans but overall its pretty quiet when its up an running with the lights on, much quieter than i thought it would be. Its certainly much quieter than a 6in and 8in fan i had in my old setup which you could hear humming away in the garage, this cab you cant. Gotta say im pretty impressed with the noise level, ive heard a few people say they are noisy but with 5 fans and an air pump its gonna make a bit of noise but personally i dont think its that bad.

End of week 2 so its a res change and on to bloom nutes. Growth seems good, lush and green leaves no sign of any problems. Start with a background EC of 0.0 (RO water) and ill take this up to 0.5 EC with base nutes then add some supplements which will take it to 0.7 EC. PH is always around 5.7 after ive added everything so no need to adjust the PH, another reason i love RO water. The next week or so is when start getting interesting when bud sites start forming.

I feel you man. I got mine used too, off eBay, for $2700 -- 6 months used only. I used a BloomBox before when my friend had it. I love them. Expensive yes, but, it is good for those too paranoid to trust their own wiring skills, and handyman talents.

Your set-up is looking A1 so far, im still reading, but thought i'd comment on the price deal. Did you buy or add anything else on? Like a dryer or MotherShip? Nice Job Jimmy, going to finish reading your journal now. :hump:

HI MO
Only got the producer atm, thinking about getting the dryer as Ive heard good things about them, as for the mothership Ive built something similar from a metal cabinet and i use 3ft fluorescent tubes x 4 per shelf, with two shelf's (8 tubes) it has plenty of room for seedlings and cuttings the lower part of the cab has 250w CFL which will house a couple of mothers. IMO these cabs are the best you can get, you do need the vent collars and ducting for them to control the hot air but once up and running they are really good, its like anything in this world you get what you pay for i was lucky to get this cab at the price i did but i would have bought one at full price if i had too as i think they are worth the money. These cabs take abit of getting used too, Ive been growing for many years now but never in a cab and to get the best out of these cabinets its about picking the right strain, I'm not using CO2 on this run but still hoping for an oz per plant not sure yet whether ill get that but all's good so far. Update tomorrow end of week 3.

End of week 3, stretch is over and bud sites are forming, its been a few months since i last completed my trial grow and these girls have stretched more than i remember, wish i had taken pics of the last grow to compare as these are not growing at all like the last lot of cheese i had although all seems to be going well they are bushier and bigger and the structure seems different hope these are dinafem cheese and the seedbank hasn't fucked up and sent me something else lol. Temp in the cab is 26 deg, humidity is 58% so thats good, theres no sign of any nute burn or deficencys and growth is excellent, PH is 6.1 and ive toped up the res with RO water and brought the EC is 0.6.
