Hi all,

Been over a year since I grew and winters coming so I need a hobby.

This time I'll be growing 3 plants,
  1. White Window - Green House Seeds
  2. Jack Herer - Green House Seeds
  3. Sweet Purple - Paradise Seeds

My past grows I've grown just one plant so I hope I don't run out of grow room. The Jack will be my first time growing this strain the others I've grown before.

Grow Medium is DWC.

Lights : T5 for Veg, haven't decided yet for flowering but probably a 400W HPS.

Plant Food Nutrients:
For both Veg and Flower I'll be using
  1. Advanced Nutrients Sensi
  2. Calmag
For only Veg I also use Thrive Alive - B1. Don't know for sure if it helps but I've been using it since my first grow and doesn't seem to harm anything.

Thanks for reading and feel free to post.

Cheers,
SB

Week 0 - Germination

I consider this a long week 0, more then 7 days, as I don't start counting the start of a week until the seedling pops out of the medium (rock wool).

This is also a week where changes are happening quickly and I need to act on them fast. If I can get the seedlings past week 0 they have a good chance of survival.

  1. Tuesday, October 14th - Germinated seeds
    1. placed 6 seeds into wet paper towl, zip lock bag and left them on top of my PVR for two days.
      1. 2 White Widow
      2. 2 Sweet Purple
      3. 2 Jack Herer
    2. Submerged 6x1" rock wool cubes in 5.8 PH balanced tap water for 24hrs.
  2. Wednesday, October 15th - Preheated rock wool
    1. Removed submerged rock wool and shook out most of the water,
    2. Placed rock wool in a container and put it on top of the PVR. (Start warming them up)
    3. Placed saran wrap on top of the container - Retain the moisture.
  3. Thursday, October 16th, 5 seeds germinated, nice roots, ~ 1/2" long - Only 1 White Widow didn't fully germinate.
    1. Placed each of the 5 germinated seeds in a 1" rock wool cube.
    2. Opened up the existing hole in the rock wool and made it a little deeper.
    3. Roots were long so went in facing down.
    4. Covered the hole in top with a very thin layer of rock wool.
    5. Kept the rock wool on top of the PVR, container covered with saran wrap.
  4. Saturday Morning, October 18th - All seeds popped through top of rock wool.
  5. Saturday Evening, October 18th - Tap roots coming through bottom of rock wool - Gave first does of food.
    1. In a 1/2" gallon jug had 5.8 PH tap water mixed 1/4" strength of CalMag (1/4 teaspoon)
    2. Placed the above mixture in a dish, only about 1mm deep.
    3. Quick dip of each rock wool. Bottom only.
  6. Sunday, October 19th - Placed rock wool under 18hour light
  7. Monday, October 20th - Placed into micro dwc
    1. Roots popping out of the rock wool were over an 1" long
    2. Food was 1/2 strength of Advanced Nutrients Grow (Part A & B). (I used 2ml per gallon)
  8. Tuesday, October 21st - First leaves appear on all 5 plants.
  9. Thursday, October 23rd - Gave away 2 of my plants ( 1 Sweet Purple and 1 Jack Herer)
  10. Friday, October 24th - End of Week 0.

I germinated two of each strain. Only 1 White Widow didn't germinate properly, I gave it an extra 2 days in the paper town and afterwards still only a little root was showing. I placed it into rock wool on Saturday the 18th but didn't show any signs of change. The other 5 were growing without problems so it told me this seed was not good so by the 20th it was in the garbage. The heat source I use for the paper towels and rock wool is my PVR. There is a spot on the top that has just a little heat, just warm enough and perfect enough to germinate seeds and keep the rock wool warm. Works every time. However there is also a spot on top that is too warm and past experience I've cooked the seeds.

I don't use RO water at this stage, I use tap water for everything, and yeah I know chlorine, but doesn't seem to impact the seedlings one bit. My thinking is tap water has some minerals and nutrients that the seedling can use. I don't leave the water out for 24hrs either, goes from tap to whatever I need it for.

Getting the rockwool to the correct wetness is a skill I learned. Really don't want them heavy, just moist enough to create a high humidity within the rock wool for the seed head. The roots are already out and I want those roots to hunt for water so it's best not to have a lot of moisture. Seems the roots pop out the bottom quicker this way.

When the seedlings popped out of the rock wool this time, I noticed each of them had yellowish cotyledons. They weren't under a direct light source but still I hadn't seen this before, they usually come out at least a little more green. The roots popped out from the bottom of the rock wool within 12 hours so I gave them a light dose of CalMag for food. I placed the solution in a dish, not very deep and dipped the bottom of the rock wool in for just a second. Enough time for the root to get wet and for the bottom to absorb just a little.

The next day, I placed the plants under T5 lights (64K) and the next day they seemed to green up a bit. On the Monday I placed them in a micro DWC system, with food and they looked really healthy the next day. I thought the yellowish was caused by a combination of lack of light and food but my conclusion now is I too much heat when they were germinating in the paper towel and in the rock wool. Next time I'll move them more to the edge of the PVR where it's a little less warm.

Monday, October 20th - 3 days after popping out of the rock wool.
BatchGrow-Veg-Week0- (6).jpg BatchGrow-Veg-Week0- (5).jpg

By Wednesday the roots had really grown long and they would need to be moved out of the micro DWC soon. The plants looked strong and I know now that they have a good chance of survival as long as I don't over feed. I don't need 5 plants so I gave two away.

Tuesday, October 21st - 4 days after popping out of the rock wool, roots grew quite a bit over 24hrs.
BatchGrow-Veg-Week0- (2).jpg BatchGrow-Veg-Week0- (1).jpg

Friday I still haven't moved them out of the micro DWC, been too busy. Problem here is roots are about 8" long and can be pain to place into a net pot and not damage the roots when putting in the clay pebbles. Oh well next time i'll have to be more ready.

Cheers,
SB

Moving the 3 plants from micro DWC to 30 liter DWC system.

Roots have really grown. These seedlings are just 1 week old from popping out of the rock wool.

I use a certain Rubber Maid containers as they have a type that has different sizes but use the same lid. However I make my own lids using corrugated plastic sheet.
BatchGrow-Veg-Week1- (4).JPG

The corrugated plastic sheet is easy to cut holes for the net pots. The wood on the top sides is for support and something to grab onto when lifting the lid. Simply stapled to the plastic sheet.

BatchGrow-Veg-Week1- (5).JPG

I'm not sure what my final DWC system will be for this grow and for now I don't want to use individual containers for each plant. Too much water to move around for 3 very small plants.
So the roots don't tangle with each other I've put in dividers.

BatchGrow-Veg-Week1- (6).JPGBatchGrow-Veg-Week1- (7).JPG BatchGrow-Veg-Week1- (1).JPG
The above are the plants in their new home. I waited way too long to transfer these plants to the larger system so I had to feed as much of the roots through the net pot holes as I could and not damange the roots when putting in the clay pebbles.

Their new home is a 30L rubber maid. Food is still a light dose. Little less than 1/2 strength.
  1. 17ml AN Part A
  2. 17ml AN Part B
  3. 15ml CalMag
  4. 15ml Thrive Alive B-1
Light is 18hours on, 4 hours off, using the same lights as before, T5s.

Cheers,
SB

End of Week 1, Beginning of Week 2 - November 1st.

Water change on Saturday, photos and height taken.

Growth was really slowing going this week until Thursday when I raised the lights from 6" to 11" and all three plants showed good height increase on Saturday.

Height taken from the base of the rock wool.
Sweet Purple : 2 1/2"
Jack Herer : 2"
White Widow: 2"

This week I skipped adding Thrive Alive B1. I really don't think it does anything for the plants plus it makes the roots look dirty and smells up the water.
I decided to go full strength from AN's feeding chart.
  1. 38ml AN Grow Part A
  2. 38ml AN Grow Part B
  3. 20ml CalMag

End of Week 2, Beginning of Week 3 - November 8th.

Late posting this but been busy this week. Did the water change on the Saturday but took the photos on Sunday morning.

On Thursday (November 6th) I noticed some yellowing on top of the sweet purple, thought it might be related to either too much light or too fast growth and did a wait and see what happens in a day or two. Well by the Saturday it was apparent there was some sort of nute deficiency. The Jack has also started to show some of the same signs of yellowing, just not as much.

The yellow leaves had green veins so, bingo it's a lacking magnesium. Don't know why as I add CalMag in but maybe not enough? So since this was a water change day all I am going to do is up the nutes to full strength.

BatchGrow-Veg-Week3 (1).JPG

Roots look awesome on all 3 plants.

BatchGrow-Veg-Week3 (2).JPG BatchGrow-Veg-Week3 (5).JPG

Measurements for this week:
  • White Widow - 3 1/4"
  • Jack - 3 3/4"
  • Sweet Purple - 4"

Dropped the water level to about 22 litres: Nute strengths:
AN Part A - 35ml
AN Part B - 35ml
CalMag - 35ml

Update: Tuesday Nov. 11th.

Again late posting this but this is the order of the events.

After up-ing the nutes on Sunday the Sweet purple had turned even more yellow on the new growth leaves and the Jack was showing way more yellow as well. Also, I've also noticed brownish/reddish spots on the lower leaves of all 3 plants, SHIT either Phosphorus or it's a calcium deficiency? WFT.

Now I'm thinking there is something wrong with the food as I have as I've never had any of these problems before. I've also been keeping the pH between 5.7 and 6.0 so I don't think it's pH. Thing is when I bought the food it was at the beginning of 2012 so almost 3 years old. Did some research and appears there is an expiry date on these products and I had gone past the date by over a year.

As it was Sunday evening most of the Hydro stores are closed so my choice right now is simple, add Epsom Salt to correct for the Magnesium deficiency. I added a 1 1/2 tsp for the entire 22 litres and Monday get some fresh nutes.

By Monday morning there was no change in the yellowing of the leaves, if there was it was very minor. I called up my fav. hydro shop but they were out of Advanced Nutrients products so I picked up General Hydroponics Nova Grow. It's a one part food that has everything, NPK + all the micro/macro nutrients and I could get in a 1 litre bottle.

When I got home from work on Monday the Epsom Salts started to work because most of the yellow had disappeared off both plants. But still, the food is the problem so I changed out the water and only put in 1 1/4" ml per litre (25ml total) of the GH Nova.

By Tuesday evening there were no adverse affects of changing the food, plants looked good and the yellow had fully disappeared. However some of the newer leaves on the Sweet Purple had permanent damage from the Mag deficiency but the Jack looked like it recovered just fine.

BatchGrow-Veg-Week4 (1).JPG

Since the food change on Monday these three plants have taken off. Jack Herer (Middle Plant) has really taken off and surpassed the Jack in height. White window is the smallest but looks really healthy.

Future note: Nutes spoil after a while so don't buy large jugs. For Advance Nutrients Sensi Grow I bought Part A and Part B in 1 Gallon jugs. Since the veg stage is usually so much less time then bloom I still have 3/4 of a gallon of each part. I spent over $80 on Part A and Part B and its just a waste. So this is the reason why I only bought 1 litre of the GH FloraNova Grow. I probably have close to half a gallon each of Part A and Part B of the AN Sensi Bloom which I'm going to replace as well, again just get a smaller jug.

BatchGrow-Veg-Week4 (3).JPG
Branches are coming along nicely. This are branches of the sweet purple. There are ones in the background that are way longer and already have their second set of leaves.

BatchGrow-Veg-Week4 (7).JPG BatchGrow-Veg-Week4 (8).JPG
Roots are coming along very nicely too. Just getting tangled up due to the water flow. But luckily not getting tangled with each other.

BatchGrow-Veg-Week4 (2).JPG BatchGrow-Veg-Week4 (6).JPG

Above are two pics of the permanent damage to the Sweet Purple due to a Mag and probably a Calcium deficiencies. The first pic is caused from the lack of Mag and the 2nd Picture looks to be an issue with the Calcium. So that is another thing I have to throw out, My CalMag (Also bought 1 Gallon Jug, what a waste).

BatchGrow-Veg-Week4 (9).JPG BatchGrow-Veg-Week4 (10).JPG BatchGrow-Veg-Week4 (11).JPG

Also did some trimming today. Cleaned up some of the branches and dead leaves that are growing at the the bottom of both the Jack Herer and White Widow.

Water Change Day and here are the stats:

Measurements:
  • (Left) White Widow : 4"
  • (Middle) Jack Herer : 6"
  • (Right) Sweet Purple: 5.5"
Food for 30litres. I only need 22 litres but I'm noticing the plants are drinking quite a bit of water so I'll have some extra to top off during the week. Also not using RO water this week, just plain tap water.
  • GH FloraNova : 55ml
  • H2O2 - 1/2 cap (Should have mentioned I put this in last week too)
pH @5.8
PPM @1000
Raised Lights (T5-HO), approx. 8" above plants.

If these guys keep growing they way they were between Monday and Today, probably will only veg them for another two weeks or less. I do want the WW to veg till she's approx 12" so she may need to be vegged for a week or two longer.

Little info on the General Hydroponics FloraNova Grow product.
  • Really thick, brown, stuff and the bottle needs to be shaken pretty well before dispensing. Vigorously shake for about 20-30secs.
  • Water turns to a dark brown, but roots don't really stain.
  • So far, I'm happy with the stuff. Growth has been excellent, comparable to AN Sensi Grow. The price was good, ~$30 for the 1 litre bottle but that is all that I need besides H202 and ph Down.
Between Monday and Thursday I had some really wild pH swings. Monday @ 5pm, I pH balanced the water to 5.8 and by 9pm the pH had swung up to 6.6. Tuesday same thing. Seems like I had to pH down 2 to 3 times a day: when I got up in the morning, when I got home from work and then before I went to bed. However by Thursday the pH didn't swing as much and held steady at 5.8 to 5.9 for most of the day. I don't know if this is caused by the GH FloraNova or it's just my RO water? I'll see if the same thing happens this week but I'm tending to lean not towards the GH FloraNova and more to my water and/or ph Down.

Cheers,
SB

End of Week 4, Beginning of Week 5 - November 22

Big difference this past week and a big lesson learned about pH meters. I bought my meter back in February 2012 and never calibrated it. Well after buying a 7.0 and 4.01 solution, calibrating my meter I found my DWC water was at pH 4.0. Holy sh!t no wonder these plants were growing so slow. So I calibrated my meter last Monday and by Tuesday evening I noticed the Jack Here had grown almost an inch and the sweet purple not that far behind with new growth. So since Tuesday the Jack Herer has grown almost 1" per day.

So one thing about the pH meter, prior to calibration, was it took a long time to get the pH reading. Also I would see wild pH swings, upward, for the first 2-3 days after a water change. So now that it's been calibrated my water's pH pretty much stays where I set it, and it just takes 5-10 seconds, at the most, to get the pH reading to settle. Boy am I happy I figured out this problem. This means for my past 3 grows I was using a pH meter way out of wack.

The next two pics speak for themselves, compare them to the previous week. (That's pretty much only 4.5 days of growth).

DSC_0001.JPG

DSC_0002.JPGDSC_0003.JPG

DSC_0002.JPG

The above pic is of my White Widow and it's growing better but not as much as the other two. What I'm trying to figure out what is going on with these leaves as some of the newer leaves are also showing some of the same conditions. The pic above is of an older leaf, prior to the pH meter being calibrated.

So here is this weeks stats.
Measurements:
  • (Left) White Widow : 6"
  • (Middle) Jack Herer : 10"
  • (Right) Sweet Purple: 8"
This week I only topped off the water, didn't add any new nutes. Everything is growing great so why mess with it. At this rate the Sweet Purple and Jack will be in Flower by next week. I plan on leaving the White Widow in grow until she reaches 10-12". I checked my pH meter with the solution and it's still bang on, I think I'll be checking this more often now.

So lesson learned this week: Calibrate the pH meter, it does wonders for the plant when the water is at 5.8 vs 4.0.

Cheers,
SB.

End of Week 5 Veg, Beginning of Week 1 Flower - November 29th

Incredible growth this past week (really the last two weeks) and this past Friday I put all three plants into flower. I moved them into the Flower room and started them with 24hrs of darkness.

The 3 x 2' T5HO and 4 CFLs just wasn't putting out enough light to penetrate deep into the plant, especially the Jack. So this and their size helped me push them into flower. I did plan to veg the WW for another two weeks or until she reached 12" but I think the size of the Jack and Sweet Purple is going to make the room too full as it is.

DSC_0003.JPG

Flower System:
1 x 400w HPS + Ballast
65 litre reservoir (Home made using a utility sink and custom made lid for the net pots)

This Measurements:
  • (Left) Jack Herer : 14.5"
  • (Back Right) Sweet Purple : 12"
  • (Front Right) White Window: 8.5"
Nutrients . With my pH meter working correctly I'm going to stick with the Advanced Nutrients Sensi Bloom and see how it goes.
  • AN Bloom Part A - 90ml
  • AN Bloom Part B - 90ml
  • Calmag - 80ml
FYI: I was really happy with the GH FloraNOVA product and if the plants show any signs of deficiencies due to the age/shelf life of the AN product then I'll go out and get the FloraNova Bloom. I love that the FloraNova line is only 1 part which also means no need for CalMag etc..

As things are going this is my estimate for plant height and harvest (dried)
  • Jack Here : 36" and 5oz
  • Sweet Purple : 28" and 4oz
  • White Widow : 18" and 2oz

Cheers,
SB

End of Week 1 Flower , Beginning of Week 2 Flower - December 6th.

I've lost my sense of humor about how this grow is going. I just did a compare between last weeks' picture and then this weeks picture and all I can say is, I think I'm in trouble regarding how big these plants are going to get. HOLY SH!T but I love the results on DWC. Just amazing.

BatchGrow-Flower-Week2 (2).JPG

This Measurements:
  • (Left) Jack Herer : 21.5" - Growth this week is 7"
  • (Back Right) Sweet Purple : 19.5" - Growth this week is 7.5"
  • (Front Right) White Window: 12" - Growth this week is 3.5"
Nutrients . No issues with plant health so I'm going to stick with the Advanced Nutrients Sensi Bloom. I have noticed some of the newer growth (two weeks old) seem to be getting some spots on them but I'm not ready yet to switch food. Give it another week and see how it goes. All recent new growth look nice and healthy though.
  • AN Bloom Part A - 110ml
  • AN Bloom Part B - 110ml
  • Calmag - 80ml
Last week, Daytime temps holding at 27.5C, night time is 17.5C.
pH is 5.9
PPM was 600.
Water temp, at water change was 12C but a few days later settled in and held at 17C for the remainder of the week.

Pre-Flowers were showing on the Jack as of last Saturday. She probably already had them when I switch them to flower on Thursday night.
Pre-Flowers showed up on the Sweet Purple on Tuesday.
Pre-Flowers just showed up on the White Widow. Probably on Thursday or Friday.

BatchGrow-Flower-Week2 (4).JPG
Above is a pic of the pre-flowers on the Jack Herer

These gals are drinking so much water. Had to fill the reservoir twice, once on Tuesday then again on Thursday jut to keep the top of the roots submerged, water level is just touching the bottom of the net pots.

One of these girls, or two or all, had a smell of skunk when I switch to flower and that smell stuck around for most of the week. When I did the water change today there was hardly any smell.

Other then keeping an eye on the pH and water level I don't have to do much work during the week. The pH pretty much stays steady, very small adjustments until the water temp holds at 17C which it got to about Tuesday (took 4 days). But have to adjust pH as I add water.

Some other photos. Keeping them as thumb nails.

End of Week 2 Flower , Beginning of Week 3 Flower - December 13th

All 3 plants are growing and very little hick ups this week. The Sweet Purple has caught up in height to the Jack and but the White Widow remains lagging. The Sweet Purple has also taken over the Jack with regards to the stage in flowering by showing way more calyxes at the tip of each node. The White Widow is staying pretty small, not stretching as much as the other two giving way tighter nodes. Also, I reported last week the WW was showing some signs of a deficiency on some of the lower (but newer) fan leaves and this week those leaves got a little worse forcing me to take action. After this weeks water change, my heart stopped for a bit when I came back into the grow room to see all three plants drooping, badly. Luckily after a 6 hours they all recovered. This week I raised the light as the Sweet and Jack grow way past the bottom of the bulb. The tops are just above the bottom of the bulb now but I don't want to raise the light too high for the WW.

BatchGrow-Flower-Week3 (2).JPG

BatchGrow-Flower-Week3 (3).JPG

This weeks Measurements:
  • (Left) Jack Herer : 29.5" - Growth this week is 8"
  • (Back Right) Sweet Purple : 29.5" - Growth this week is 10"
  • (Front Right) White Window: 16" - Growth this week is 4"
Nutrients . Since the WW is showing some dis-coloring and it is getting worse I decided to do three things. Up the the Bloom nutes and CalMag and add GH Liquid Kool Bloom. I'm hoping the yellowing is due to a lack of phosphorous so the Kool Bloom should take care of that.
  • AN Bloom Part A - 145ml
  • AN Bloom Part B - 145ml
  • Calmag - 100ml
  • Liquid Kool Bloom - 80ml
Last week, Daytime temps holding at 27.5C, night time is 17.5C.

Hard to see but the two above pics are the flowers off the Sweet Purpble from one of the mid nodes. Just awesome to see it at this stage already after just two weeks from flipping the light to 12/12.

BatchGrow-Flower-Week3 (16).JPG

The above pic is of the WW lower Fan leaf. Lighting in the photo doesn't give the arising issue justice but the yellowing on the right side is noticeable.

I forgot to take pics of the roots so I'll try to remember for next week.

End of Week 3 Flower , Beginning of Week 4 - December 20th

This week things seem to be doing better but not after I put some beneficial bacteria into the reservoir. I used General Hydroponics Subculture-B and the reason I did this is because I noticed quite a bit of brown, dark brown, on the Jack's roots. It seemed to me the roots were getting darker and darker as the weeks got on plus I'm noticed some of the same yellowing and brown spots on the mid fan leaves, same as the White Widow. Not only this but I noticed a similar, but not as bad on the Sweet Purple. Last week, I thought the yellowing and brown spots was caused from a lack of Phosphorus and adding in the Kool Bloom last week didn't help. I was hoping Subculture-B would be the solution, turns out I don't think it was but did help a lot with new root growth. My water temps have been sitting around 16.8C to 17.5 C, after putting in the Subculture-B it jumped the temp to 19C which the plants seem to love, as well as I let the pH move and stay above 6.2. At this point I noticed the WW starting to grow taller and it's buds growing too, best of all it's fan leaves stopped going yellow with thebrown spots. So this weeks water changed I added warm water to heat up the reservoir to 19C and adjusted the pH to only 6.2. Unlike last week the plants did not droop after the water change, they stayed perky.

Other things this week is: the Jack is just growing like a monster, the sweet purple seems to be slowing down it's growth but it's flowers are awesome. Not putting down the Jack's flowers down but I already see a huge amount of frosting on the Sweet purple. The WW is just way behind on it's flowers compared to the other two, maybe with the water temps at 19C and pH at 6.2 it might try to catch up.

Just one note on the Subculture-B which I've been reading is to help promote healthy roots as well as kill off the bad bacteria. Well I can say without a doubt it helped with new root growth for all the plants. One thing though is it turned my water very cloudy and I noticed some very thick gooey slime on parts of some of the roots. Since the slime wasn't there before it must be due to the Subculture-B, so I just opted to leave it.

BatchGrow-Flower-Week4 (1).JPG

This weeks Measurements:
  • (Left) Jack Herer : 37.5" - Growth this week is 8"
  • (Back Right) Sweet Purple : 35" - Growth this week is 5.5"
  • (Front Right) White Window: 19" - Growth this week is 3"
Nutrients . I thought that since the Jack and Sweet Purple are just loving the nutes I gave it last week I would NOT up the nutes except for the Kool Bloom. Everything else I kept the same. I'm not going to put in the SubCulture-B this week. I'm sure there are plenty of of those bennies sitting in the roots as it is.
  • AN Bloom Part A - 145ml
  • AN Bloom Part B - 145ml
  • Calmag - 100ml
  • Liquid Kool Bloom - 100ml

BatchGrow-Flower-Week4 (3).JPG

BatchGrow-Flower-Week4 (2).JPG

The above thumbnail and picture are of a Sweet Purple node, about the upper-mid way of the plant. Hard to see the frost but it is very frosty for something that has only been in flower for 3 weeks.

BatchGrow-Flower-Week4 (4).JPG

The above is a picture of a flower on the Jack, again about mid way in the plant.

BatchGrow-Flower-Week4 (5).JPG

This is the main cola of the WW, the other nodes aren't much better. Way behind the other two plants. On Wednesday the WW grew only 1/2" but by this morning she is just shy of 19". I do think the slightly warmer reservoir, bennies and higher pH helped it.

Cheers,
SB

6 Weeks left for the Jack and the Sweet Purple
8-9 weeks left for the WW.

The Sweet Purple is just that, sweeeeet. Nice big buds and the Jack isn't that far behind. White Widow is doing much better this week, buds still far behind the other two but at least it's showing better progress then previous weeks.

For the past week I kept the pH between 6.2 and 6.4 but the Sweet Purple and the Jack are both still showing signs of yellow fan leaves still and not getting any better. The WW is doing much much better. So on Wednesday I decided to up the Kool Bloom by another 100ml, just in case it really is a P deficiency. which put the PPM @ 1100. Well the buds on both those plants are doing super but didn't fix the leaves. So at today's water change I decided to check the calibration of my pH meter and SH!T it's out again. Using the 7.0 pH solution, my meter is showing 8.4. So this means my girls having been sitting in an acidic solution again. My pH meter is junk.

So just a recap of what I'm seeing on the leaves, it's the classic Phosphorus and Calcium deficiencies.

I decided to not calibrate my meter but to just manually calculate what I think is should be. So my meter is 1.4 points off. So with knowledge and using my SH!T meter I'm letting the pH sit between 7.1 and 7.4 for this week and see what happens.

Since I'm using tap water, I'm going to wait until Sunday to put in a dose of Subculture-B. Reason I want to put it in again is the roots really exploded on all the plants when I used it the other week so it did something good.

I'm also figuring between the three plants, they are drinking about 10litres a week. I'm expecting this to triple in the next two weeks.

This weeks Measurements: Yay, slowing down.
  • (Left) Jack Herer : 40.5" - Growth this week is 3"
  • (Back Right) Sweet Purple : 35" - Growth this week is 3.5"
  • (Front Right) White Window: 22" - Growth this week is 3"
Nutrients . I thought that since the Jack and Sweet Purple are just loving the nutes I gave it last week I would only up the Kool Bloom. Everything else I kept the same measurements and will be adding in GH Subculture-B.
  • AN Bloom Part A - 150ml
  • AN Bloom Part B - 150ml
  • Calmag - 100ml
  • Liquid Kool Bloom - 200ml
  • Subculture-B - 3 tsp (Put this in on Sunday)

WW pictured above, finally the flowers are starting to take off and no more yellowing or brown patches forming on the leaves. So raising the pH helped this plant.

All the pictures above are of the Sweet Purple. SOOOOOO frosty for just 4 weeks of flower. The pics aren't showing what it's really like, they look way frostier in person.

End of Week 5 Flower , January 3rd, 2015.
5 Weeks left for the Jack and the Sweet Purple
7-8 weeks left for the WW.

Start of week 6 and I expect the next two weeks the buds are going to double in size. Already all are showing a lot of frost, including the WW which seems to be catching up on trichome development but bud size is still pretty small.

I noticed on both Jack and the Sweet Purple a lot of yellow leaves starting to appear and wasn't sure if it's due to the the pH being out of wack or if there is just a lack of N. Again I'm still using the AN Sensi Bloom which is several years old. Past experience tells me yellowing of the leaves at this stage of bloom is still too early. So I invested in a new pH meter, calibrated it, and confirmed that this week I've kept the pH where I wanted it which was between 6.0 and 6.2. So could be the food so I bought GH FloraNova Bloom to use for the remainder of flower. If the leaves continue to yellow this week then it's either a nutrient lock out or it's just the plants time to yellow? Donno but I'm leaning towards my old stock of the AN Sensi just didn't have enough N in it BUT the WW is showing no signs of yellowing so hard to tell. next week will tell me what's going on.

The other thing I noticed other than a sh!t load of trichomes are on the Sweet Purple some of the pistols are turning brown. Also this past week, like clock work, growth has pretty much stopped.

This weeks Measurements:
  • (Left) Jack Herer : 41 " - Growth this week is 0.5"
  • (Back Right) Sweet Purple : 38.5" - Growth this week is 0" (Error in last weeks write up, shouldn't have been 35", should have been 38.5)
  • (Front Right) White Window: 22.75" - Growth this week is 0.75"
Nutrients .Switch to GH FloraNova Bloom.
  • GH FloraNova Bloom - 160ml
  • Calmag - 0 - Bloom food above has it all.
  • Liquid Kool Bloom - 100ml
  • Subculture-B - 1.5 tsp (Put this in on Sunday)
