According to this site (http://www.1stmarijuanagrowerspage.com/how-to-improve-female-male-ratio-of-cannabis-plant.html) if around the time the third set of leaves grow I go on a 14-10 schedule for a couple weeks, along with other conditions, I can increase my chances of my plant being a female. Since this is my first and maybe only plant I plan on keeping it alive for a while. It's about 5-6 days old right now and so far I have it on a full 24 hour light cycle. If after it grows it's third set of leaves I switch right to 14-0 like the site says will I cause unwanted stress to the plant or increase it's chances of becoming a female? Because I also heard that the sex shows after a while so should I just keep it 24-0 until I find out?

Yes, during the 3rd and 4th week of veg if the conditions are right, chances are higher for a female. Talking about not over or under watering, heat, humidity, etc etc. I guess any stress during this time can cause it to turn male. But the last part you are talking about is preflowering. It usually happens when the plant is mature and doesnt need flowering to produce them. But I am a firm believer in 18-6 or 20-4 for the lights, but its all about preference and what your plant likes.

Hope this helps!

I'm new but... Genetically speaking it's all in the genetics. However not keeping them in optimum conditions can turn a female male or to hermi. So it's not so much giving it more a chance to be a female as it is keeping a female from turning. Keep your stuff proper and if she's a she she will be a she lol. If she's a dude. Grow him out and take his beans. Grow a few of the beans and keep whatever turns out to be female then you can clone off her. Deff a long process which Is why you can just buy female beans. Mine came quicker from another country then my lights from a different state

That article would be interesting if it cited any sources, but that just seems like one guys assumptions based on his personal experiences, and it is rife with factual errors and unsupported statements. I would take it with a grain of salt. I would keep the seedlings under 18/6 or 20/4 light (IMO a dark period is beneficial to root development) until you are ready to flower. In my experience they will start showing sex after 5-7 nodes, if you know what to look for.

Why not ask on that website, rather than pester the membership here?
because the website has not been updated since 2009
and also theres NO forum
so why are you their ...?
UNDERSTAND that their are many falsehoods even lies about cannabis and its use
avoid growing 24/0 as plants need to transfer energies to and from the rootzone, thats best done in the dark
SEX ...like you is 'decided' at conception, not messing around with chems or this and that ...that is most def a lie(google for more)
