So i'm somewhat new to this site. I've mainly been reading and haven't done much posting. I germed some 5 year old seeds i had laying around and ended up planting the 1 that germed, within 24 hours it sprouted. Currently it is under 2x 26w 6500k cfl's in a area with mylar security blanket peices, It is on day 18 today of 24/7 and is doing well imo. as it gets bigger i will add two more cfl's. I'm wondering a couple things, Should i top it at some point? will this help increase my yeild and utilize my space more effectively? also how long should i veg it? if i veg it till its 1 1/2 feet how tall will it be when its finished flowering? and what about 2 feet? I'll upload a few pics in the next post

Nice tight node growth. Looks like your on the right track. As for your questions i would veg for about 1 month or a month and a half. Plants sometimes double or triple in size. Topping does increase your yield but remember growth will be slowed But i topped my first grow and i think my yield will be better since i topped it. Also try some lst it works well on producing a bigger yield as well. Throw some more lights in there soon.

If i was gonna Lst would i start right away? or wait a bit more, it's still pretty short. and when would be the best time to top it if i was going too?

I topped mine about the 6th node just to be safe. You can Lst as soon as the stem will bend without the ability of pinching(pretty much make sure they dont look really really thin). But yea id say go for the lst now. If you want. I think my yield greatly improved from topping check it out. day 30 flowering

id wait till the plant is at least 1 foot tall(30cm) b4 stressing it or at least 2 weeks into veg with well established roots

make sure you have a little strenght to those stems before doing the LST topping.... i topped at 6th node but 1 foot is also a good way to do it.

i meant wait till 1ft for LST i only top the outside ones since the slowed growth wont really be noticed and only when they get to tall to hide and i actually hate tying down the ones outside they always get shit stuck in the buds when their sideways and its a pain in the ass to get the dirt and leafs that get blown around out ... i like to tie down the indoors ones about a week or two b4 i start the 12/12 light cycle...that seems to have worked for me...

Awesome, thanks for the advice. Also does anyone know if i should raise the lights a bit to increase stretching a bit? because the nodes are so closely packed that secondary growths arent getting much light

i think its nute cause usually heat burns start on the edges of the leaves but this looks like some spots in the middle of the leaves

i like to keep cfls as close as possible with out burning the plant and giving enough room for growth ...raising them a little will increase coverage though...and u said ur getting more lights?...maybe keep the ones u have now the way they are and get two more and have them lower and to the left and right side to get more light to the inbetween parts.

yea that looks like a MANGANESE problem

I appreciate you following my topic and giving me your input. I'm gonna buy a couple clamp lamps and give it side lighting, probably sometime this week, so you think its a manganese problem? anything i can do relatively easily to fix that?

Looks good from what i see...and the best way to stop those spots is to leach the soil more often till u have it in a bigger container

well i just did a form of topping, so i'll see how many tops come up from the fim, then judge whether i'll do it again or not. i will probably lst a bit, but i doubt i'll bend mine right over like yours as i have more vertical space then i do width.

Here's what I'd do:

Wait until the medium is very dry, to the point where it's almost, but not quite, starting to droop from needing water. Then, starting about a finger's width above soil level, start working the stem where you can get your fingers in by giving it a pinch. First one side, then bring your fingers around 90 degrees and pinch again all the way up to just below your top two or three nodes. Pinch just hard enough to kinda crush the stem, but take care you don't twist or cut it with a nail and break any of it off. Now that your plant is nice and floppy, tie it down LST style. Now, give it a good, full watering....I mean like take it into another container big enough to hold the entire pot and fill with water until the root/dirt mass is completely submerged. Wait till all bubbles stop rising to the surface. Remove and let drain thouroughly. Put it back under your lights and watch it explode with fresh growth after a couple of days.

Fat bags!

first off, nice grow clowns...
quick question since there is so much talk of lst... if i plan on LSTing before i start my grow, should i plant the sprout on the side of my growing container versus in the middle of it? answers can be posted in the grow in my sig if clowns doesnt want this thread to be filled with random questions and answers...
