i have 32 seedling going on right now. When i started them, they were just in an egg crate, andi kept some cfls above them and they looked good and were growing fast. But after a little over a week, i put a 150 watt hps in there, and now ever since i did that all the seedlings have just stopped growing. Ive had the hps in there for about 3-4 days now. Am i giving too much light? i also spotted a dam mushroom growing in one of the pots.

huh...what did the temp do in that room when you changed lights? how far away is that light? how often do you water the seedlings?

you need to take that hps down and put the cfls up close to it . like at least four lights over them. i am assuming they are all the same age and genetics and you have different sizes there. thats has to do with your light. you can put it on hps after they are a month old. you are taking a chance of killing them you kinda wanna wait till the roots get established and its no longer a seedling

...you'll be fine with the light, just keep in 3 feet or so away. Why do you have your plants in ziplock bags, inside of grow bags? I've never seen that one...LOL

hps will promote the stretching that u can see in the plants bc u plants are absorbing light that should be part of the flowering spectrum, get a metal halide of some cfls dude and veg those

the temp stayed about the same, i try to keep the topsoil moist, i spray them several times a day, i gave them all a really good watering yesterday.
Im useing ziplock bags wraped in black poly plastic lol poor mans grow..very cheap
so i should take the light further away or just put the cfls back in there?
I cant get a metal halide cause im on a very tight budget.. i had k6500 cfls in there to start and they were growing normal, and i figured, even tho hps is ideal for flowering, its still more light than the cfls, and i thought it would be over all better, and i thought that as soon as i put the hps in there they would really take off and grow faster....=(

so uhh, i got a few mixed comments. do i movethe light back and water more often? Do i just move the cfls back in there?

...the cfl's would be cheaper to run, and lower your heat buildup. But, you would be fine to raise the light and water more often also, IMO.

well what im wondering is are there holes in the bottom of the zip lock bags? what are they draining into a cardboard box? does it get dry underneath the potters and does that cardboard stay wet? the light should be far enough away so the seedlings arch there leaves towards the light. 2 1/2 to 3 feet away.....

the only reason i put the hps so soon is cause i thought t would speed up the proccess...not slow it down lol...well thnx for the replies....hopefully i get this figured out...ill keep every1 posted

im wondering now that i raised the light to about 3 feet, will they start growing again or will some be stunted?
