Not a shitty life at all man just living the "American dream" ha ha. I love dense nugs too but I dont find mine to be any less dense when growing monsters vs little SOG style plants. I have only had one plant to have small, less dense buds. The only reason being less dense was because of the fact she got no nutrients. Just water in some roots organic soil. She got 2 waterings with 5ml black strap but that's it.
I would not be DOING it if there was not a difference...

Trust me... There is...

I can grow 2 of the same plants...

Plant One
1-2 feet tall
Lamp 8 inches away from cola
No bottom branches or leaves

Plant Two
4-5 feet tall
Lamp 8 inches away from top colas
Numerous branches and leaves

Buds from plant one will be more dense than the majority of plant two... Fact
There will be more buds from plant two than plant one... Fact

Reason...
Light penetraction

The lower branches of plant two will have smaller less dense nugs...

Overall plant one will have MORE dense nugs than plant two...

How do I know?
Have grown both methods...

My 7 gram nug from plant one will look like 3-4 grams of your plant two.... Overall density is greater with plant one...

bad or good? NO

It is all preference...

Quantity over density!!

You cant do that from seed though. From clone its easy because they are pretty much mature after root and take in a lot of nutes.. From seed it takes a month until you see interchanging nodes. From seed I always wait till I see interchanging nodes before I flip them into 12/12 that tells me they are mature.
OK no0b moment...... I thought opposing nodes ment mature, alternating immature . So interchanging do you mean set to set of opposing nodes? I could be mixing this up with when a plant is ready to clone. Sorry phx for hyjacking your thread.
sorry if this post sounds like jibberish super medicated right now

No question is stupid Jayco! My bad I meant alternating nodes is when I put them in bloom. The cool thing about clones is that you can hit them with full strength nutes early on and it wont bother them because they share the same characteristics as the mother. Clones will show alternating nodes right after they root. From seed you have to be easy like raising a child.

I love DENSE nugs man... That is my main reason... I have grown monsters in the past and I prefer clone to flower (Indoors)... Better light penetration.. In about a month I should have a harvest every 1.5-2 weeks... Also a good reason... I have four ebb and flow trays but only use 2 of them.. I can flower over 100 if I wanted... But right now the turtle is behind the rabbit... Slow and steady always wins the race mate!!

This is not my first picnic... But most of my picnics have been outdoors... I prefer little picnics indoors... HA...
I will grow some Monsters soon... Dividing a room to make a Mother room.... I have 2 strains I really want to keep around...

Easy to maintain a 2 gallon pot with a 1-2 foot plant... If I had more time to tend to the crop I would have bigger plants...

I work like a Hebrew slave 6 days a week mate!!! And my only day OFF.. I work some more....

I have a shitty LIFE! I know!

yeah alternating is mature.. I wish I had pics of my mother plants im growing 2 are from clone and 2 super lemon haze from seed you can see even at 4 weeks my super lemon haze from seed still does not have alternating nodes ( only feeding Humbolt 3-1-3 organic grow juice in Fox Farm Ocean Forest) but my mothers from clone the same age have alternating nodes. Thats why PhxFire can put them right under the lights from clone and still have potent nugs. Clones are ready to go once they have roots if you like growing that way.

See I have done pretty much the same test. Overall my density was exactly the same, the only difference was I got more quantity when growing them branchy and big. I guess it might be the strains that I have grown but my density has never suffered with big plants vs SOG style plants.

Damn PhxFire, everything is looking great! That Purple Urkle looks tasty, again. I hope my Querkle flowers with that hint of purple. Cheers!

I noticed that most purple strains start to show purple around week 7 unless you make them real cold.
A true purple strain will always purple at the end of flower... There are ways to cause nutrient deficiencies to make purple leaves..

Or the old Cold treatment which really does NOT work too well...

i have induced purpling with cold night time temps. i have done this with bubba kush with good results. if i remember correctly, it is due to a deficiency from lack of circulation in the cold plant.
