I just ordered avid mite killer, I came across a post of someone mentioning that you need to clone for 3 generations before you flower. Is this true information as I will cancel my order if it is as thats a mighty lot of work.

I copied my response below. Whether you choose to handle Avid as I do is your choice. But whether or not you clone out three generations I suggest you do not smoke any plant you used it on.

Frankly if I ran into mites I'd seriously consider these:
https://marronebioinnovations.com/ag-products/brand/grandevo/
https://marronebioinnovations.com/ag-products/brand/venerate/

Finally here is Avid's MSDS so you can decide for yourself.

Good luck and safe gardening.
You must use Spinosad as a root drench. That is the only way to get rid of them and it's crucial you add 1-2 drops of Dawn dishwashing liquid as a surfactant or you will not get rid of them. The oils and waxes on their bodies will form surface drops of air allowing enough of them to live.

It's 15cc/1 gallon water with 1-2 drops Dawn. Water with that every 3 days until they are gone. Usually takes 3-4 waterings. Then weekly root drench until you harvest.

If it's mites and I must have those genetics I clone the plant, isolate it and dip it in Avid and root drench with Avid (Avermectin). I won't flower a plant with mites and I won't allow it to stay anywhere in my indoor grow for concern about establishing a mite colony. Here is the MSDS on Avermectin: https://www.caymanchem.com/msdss/17453m.pdf This is an issue in mammals because you can generalize the Glutamate channel to our Glycine channel hence the neurotoxicity.

If you use Avid you have to clone out for three generations without treatment before you can flower. I actually wear full chemical warfare gear when I work with Avid. Avid is a potent neurotoxin. I do not have mites in my garden for this very reason. If you get mites established it is almost impossible to completely get rid of them. I'm sure some here have had success.

I've been looking at Grandevo and Venerate from Marrone (https://marronebioinnovations.com/), as I've been extremely happy with their Regalia product. But I have no direct experience.

As for Pyrethrins 1 PPM is considered enough of a contaminant in CA to consider unsafe and it's not approved for use here in Cannabis (https://www.cdpr.ca.gov/docs/cannabis/can_use_pesticide.pdf.) Here's an interesting article on Pyrethrins: https://www.projectcbd.org/cannabis-pesticide-regulations-need-rethink-pyrethrins-eagle-20. I personally do not use them because they did not work in veg for me.

Essentially you want to look at products safe to be used on Tobacco. I come from medicine so I'm far more conservative than most. Since I do not sell I am mostly researching and breeding for a specific trait; pain relief.

Good luck

Dakilla, the main thing to keep in mind is:
A chemical is either useful, or it's safe.
Avid is decidedly useful.

So count me into those who would do as c2g does.

I have had direct personal experience with very, very useful compounds. This is a warning, really.

I have personally used Avid and Forbid when the war needed a nuclear option. Now, I would agree with @curious2garden and I would opt for a bioinsecticide from Marrone as they have linked above.

I think that 3 generations is kind of extreme. I believe that it's half-life in water is less than 4 weeks.

Thanks, the hidden danger here is smoking as the mode of administration will pass the blood brain barrier with ease. I agree with you it's to dangerous for use. Hence why I was so extremely careful as we are smoking these products. Sometimes it's best to cut your losses and start over.

I canceled my avid or im attempting to as I do not think im infested to the point of pressing the nuclear button

I been reading all day I did come across something called foilar pack

https://www.ogbiowar.com/product/foliar-pack/

Dont know how well that does but I just brewed my own worm tea as I have a worm farm and foilared them yesterday...

Is the foilar pack something I should try or just go straight for the venerate?

I was reading from

I had to go nuclear and used avid with thermx one round on friday, I just ordered a small amount of that super expensive forbid to hit it next..

I was using og biowar and never gave it a full chance because in the end I realized I was just wasting time...I will use og biowar as a preventive

I used 2.5 ml avid mixed with 1g ph water

Is it really nessasary to use forbid now? At this point I am just saving my genetics and the treated plants will likely be trashed once cuttings are taken..Im just scared to take any cuttings with mites or eggs

I dipped my cuttings in Avid and drenched the rock wool as well. I also had them isolated from my grow. I run an isolation room for clones and it was there. I run a closed grow and on the rare occasion I took in a clone it ran alone there for a month.

4bid.

one application.

I found a seller selling 1oz sample bottles from a hydro show... shits expensive as fuck for a reason...

It works. It works in one shot. It works on all stages of mite, eggs included.

And it stretches.... I treated my veg and flower rooms with a couple ml...

Why the hell are you not using Phytoseiulus predatory mites? Or lady birds? Come on!

PREDATORY MITES WILL FIX YOUR MITES ISSUE!

You are poisoning yourself with forbid. The stuffs been banned in several states because it is so bad. Shame on you if you give this cannabis to anyone but yourself.
