Auxilary lighting for better growth?

Alright, I've been reading through quite a few threads about lighting and problems getting light to reach the undergrowth of a plant. My question is this, what about auxilary lighting on say the side of the plant? I drew a little picture, forgive the crudeness. I wanted ya'lls opinions on the idea. What would you see as the pros, the cons?

Damn...a little microsoft paint scribbling is too large? If someone wouldn't mind telling me how to compress a file, I'll post the little drawing.

Until then I'll describe it. What I had envisioned is setting a reflective material on a wall (I had envisioned one doing this in a closet or some other confined space), then having your pots containing the plants right in front of it. On the other side shining into the plants from the side and to some degree onto the reflective material would be a light (pick your fav), and then a light above the plants as normal.

Ok...I guess this counts as a bump, but I think this is a pretty important issue...I have heard....rather read of lots of people only getting good bud from the tops of thier plants...I'm curious what other people are doing to get good bud from all parts of their plants

A lot of people use side lighting. Mainly floros to supplement their existing lighting source.

I think this is a pretty important issue as well....really important if using CFLs...I had been using 4-42W CFLs as main light source (top) but recently during flowering I added some 26W CFLs around sides to supplement the lower bud sites....the light was having trouble reaching bottom growth and buds were slow to grow... since added lower sites have now picked up...I did have to increase air flow as well because of addtional heat so keep that in mind.

It's a great question you ask. Plenty of people use side lighting here. I've also noticed that professional growers (the people that make videos and write books) don't use side lighting at all and often trim that lower part of the plant.

If you have spare lighting available, use it and form your own opinion , and of course report back to us because inquiring minds want to know ;)

In paint - image/stretch skew/stretch [40%]
That should do it - experiment with the size tho, 40% is usually about right but depends what you started with of course
