Autopots ??

I use Autopots they are much less hassle than Hydro systems as they basically take what they need in terms of watering/nutes.. I start mine off using DWC (Deep Water Culture) and when the roots are nice a big I transplant into a mix of 70% coco, 20 perlite & 10% clay pebbles & they love it!.. Once transplanted I water until run-off & let them get on with it.. best investment I ever made mate..

Thanks, i use them but i find the smart valve sticks some times and causes the plants to dry.
This has me checking the valve all the time which is a bit of a pain..

I must admit I've not had any probs with the valve sticking it does say in the instructions to check for any soil or plant matter that may block the valve

Yeah there was nothing visible blocking the valves, when the water level dropped it wasnt filling back up again for some reason..

They say to make sure the reservoir is at least 1 foot above the smart valve as it is gravity that makes the unit work.. maybe it was that?.. I have mine 2 foot above so there is always good pressure from the res to the valve

GSTC are you going to use autos again ?

i bought the 40 pot autopot system and never had any problems with it apart from the price of the system.i've just made my own system using 1m x 1m trays and the aqua valve you get wit the autopots(you can pick 1 up for £10) which feeds water to 8 pots that sit in the tray's(£25).the pot's are £2.75.bat all in all a shit hot system.10/10

sounds great, how do you stop the smart valve from floating around, and do you cover the tray around the pots to stop leaves falling into feed ?

yes i cover the tray's with black and white membrain and i've bought aqua valve covers thet cost £3 and weight them down pretty well.you will also need root control disc's that cost £3.25 for 8.but all in all it cost's me £65.25 per tray that's 8 plants per sq meter.not bad considering it will cost u £160 for 8 auto pots.
