Has anyone on this site tried using hydro with autoflowering genes? I'm curious to understand the limits to which you can push auto flowers without having ill effects.

Thanks guys:peace:

You mean like increased light hours, short plants, huge buds? Was thinking this too, scribed.

I've never grown autoflowers before, but in theory they should be great for SOG. The autoflowering comes from crossing with a cannabis ruderalis species. Ruderalis plants only grow with a center stalk, no branching, so they would fit in a SOG nicely. The problem is it would be hard to get many clones off a mother since it wouldn't have many branches. Though i'm sure good autoflowering strains maintain good branching structure from the indica/sativa side of the family. Flowering under 24hrs light might get you some massive buds...

I have done auto-flowers in soil and hydro, Specifically low ryders, in soil they are a great for outside reaching heights of 3-4 feet. While inside staying 12-18 inches but the buds started right from the dirt. In hydro they did surprisingly worse yielding less and growing shorter. I am going to do another hydro run to test a new method but i think that auto-flowers should be put in soil.

Ruderails is a very rare thing basically if it's seed, likely you live in a "medical-mary" state where you can get a sack of MJ that comes seeded from a MJ grower and you know it's well enough to smoke so well say you grow that seed you cut out of the bud well then you're probably getting some other gene's that was crossed with the REAL Ruderalis and then really you're growing something with a couple different genes mixing up that lovely "auto-flowering" shit making it tough and more pointless when burning time way/:dunce:.

Auto's grow just fine in hydro or aero set-ups. It's just like growing any normal photoperiod strain but with a different 'rudarelis'. Ak-47 is a great strain for yeild and potency. If starting out you might try a more stable strain like Lowryder.
