Autoflower slow grow

Hello, this is my first time posting and my first time growing an auto. I think that my plant is too small for its age(22 days from coming out of the soil) and wanted your opinion on it, is it okay or does it have some kind of problem.
I want to point out that I am only feeding my plant water and it is on the balcony that gets 7 hours of direct sunlight. Genetics is Auto Afghan Bullet, 80% indica 20% ruderalis.

Your plant looks fine to me. You are suffering from nubius impatientitus, a common ailment of new growers who just can't wait for the plant to hurry up and grow. Plants go through stages where their growth seems to slow down above ground, but that's because they are putting their energy into roots. The only thing I can think of that might actually slow down its growth is the temperature, if it's in a cool space, that could slow its metabolism. I recommend that you stop staring at it so much, some of them are just shy and only grow when left alone.

Sorry for the mix of attempts at humor and actual information, but I'm sure you'll figure it out. You are off to a good start, enjoy.

Hahaha, great reply. I don't expect for it to grow super fast, I was just wondering because when I see other people's plants on 22 days they are much bigger. Oh I forgot to write the age in the original post sorry.

Most wait for the longest days of summer to do autos outdoors. More hours and more powerful sunlight. But you are timing it pretty good. The next two months will be the longest days of the year.

You want to see a slow grow? These are both day 17 pictures: the first is of my current autos that were set out and left on their own (and finally brought back inside after they nearly drowned under frequent rain) compared with some from my last grow that I ran indoors under lights with temperature control. Looks like I'm going to have some really small plants this year.

Even though I brought them back inside, I'm only keeping the garage between 68-70º so they're kind of frozen in time. Once the sun comes out and I get them in the ground they'll do whatever they do, autos are supposedly hard-wired for time, so this is apparently weeks of growth lost. I've been so busy with other things I hadn't realized how bad this was until this thread got me thinking and I dug up the progress photos from my last grow...

Did you get that the two pictures are of different plants, and both pictures are taken on day 17 of their respective grows? I was just trying to illustrate a huge range of growth rates and how in this case it can be mostly attributed to light and heat or the absence of light and heat. So yours are not as stunted as the first pic, but perhaps with a slightly better environment might have grown more like the second picture. The 7 hours of direct sunlight you mentioned might not give them as much to work with as 18 hours of COB lights in a tent. I'd still say your plants are looking great though, and given the ease and low overhead of your grow I know I'd be happy with what you've got.

Oh didn't realize that both of them were on day 17. My plant is getting bigger and bigger day by day. I started to LST it yesterday and it doesn't look so good right now. I will post an update tomorrow. Hope your little girls keep fighting.

I had the exact opposite-Autos hardly any growth indoors; moved all outdoors last Thursday and they almost doubled in size....

What's the weather like where you are? This is what last week looked like here -

That was the outdoor environment they had to contend with at the time, and indoors under lights is a lot better for them. Overall my outdoor plants are exponentially bigger than indoor, but that's been mostly photos. Once summer actually shows up and they get sun and warmth, I'm sure they'll take off.

So far I've only grown autos outdoors, next winter will be my first time trying them indoors. It'll be interesting to see how much time these have lost and what they end out being. It's a shame because while it might indicate their resilience to poor care, it won't give me even a hint of their actual potential.

Weather here is exactly like yours, but without the rain and cold ;-).
It’s my first time starting Autos indoors; will start my second round next week straight outdoors; they should be a lot faster.
