Autoflower question

I have a critical automatic plant that's 3 weeks old from seed
IMG_0620.jpg
(sorry it's sideways)

it's only like 3 inches tall, why is it already producing pistils? it's only 3 weeks! will it veg and flower simultaneously? is this the height it will be?
any info will be helpful

I'm not really an experience grower but autoflowers have no veg stage, they pass directly into flowering. it will gain height as it flowers but will remain short.

Auto will veg between wk1 - wk3 even tho you will see pistils. But they will flower based on age not photo period. If your using 2700k lights from the start then they'll start flower'n asap but if you use 6500k hen they have a short veg cycle before they start flower'n.

You hurt yourself by not transplanting into a small pot first.

When seedlings first go into dirt the plant uses most all it's energy growing a rootball to support the plant.
Until the roots hit the inside walls of the pot you will see little or no growth above ground.

That is a mistake here because autos sprout, grow, flower and die in just 2-3 months. You put the seedling
directly into a 3+-gallon pot right off the bat so she is wasting weeks building a much bigger rootball than
necessary. Better to put the newly germinated seedling into a solo cup for 10-14 days, then into another smallish 4-inch pot
for 2 more weeks. By going into slightly larger pots you aren't wasting so much time growing unneeded roots.

BigSteve.

PS -- This is an advanced situation for a new grower so this is what I would do. First, it's too late to TP into a smaller pot
so leave her where she is. Autos do not veg, you know, they go straight from seedling to flowering mode. So most
authorities say to use a 20/4 light schedule for all autos. In this case though you want to slow down the maturation process
as much as possible so your gal can grow before flowering. So turn the lights to 18/6 instead of 20/4. The longer light period should
push her to grow more than with the lights at 20/4.

PM me if you have any specific questions. Good luck, BigSteve.

what lights are you using? if you aren't using HID that may explain why to you it appears small ... as others have said, 3 weeks is about right on time for autos to start flowering, hence the name auto-flower.

From about a weeks time onwards, you'll notice explosive growth as flowering kicks in. All 3 of the auto's I'm currently growing seemed small, then within days showed remarkable growth. Right now (week 4/5) they're about a foot to a foot and a half (above soil) tall.

Autoflowers veg for aprox two to three weeks then start flowering. They typically stay on the small side.
Yeah but not that small. Most of my plants are 3" tall on day 3 from breaking soil. Depends heavily on the strain, but if everything else is in order, your lights at right height etc, you should give her a week or two and see how she goes, as from this point on it should start getting interesting.
