Autoflower bubblelicious Cfl Grow. Help me get this right !

Hey guys just marking my spot for my autoflower grow.

this is only my second grow ive managed to pull off 8 plants so far 2 with nice bud formation and plenty of crystals the rest were what id call average home grown but they all came from bagseed so had no complaints.!

Ive since seen how much better good genetics are after taking a cutting from my neighbours kc36 and compairing root growth to that of bag seed clones.

Ive previously been growing under a 250w hps and upgraded to a 400w but im struggling with heat issues hense the switch to cfl.

Ive order x5 bubblelicious auto flowers from barnies and ive ordered a 300w blue cfl from basement lighting to start them off. I plan too order a further 300w blue cfl and x2 300w red cfl's on friday.

im unsure if this will be enough or if i should go for duel spec bulbs ? always have the hps for back up tho.

I need to choose if im going into soil or pebble and water but have no pump atm. Im not sure what would suit auto's best.

I also need to decide on some nutes for this grow. Im going to be using the wardrobe from my previous grow.

This is only my second grow so any pointers on autos nutes or cfl will be much appreciated !

Pics of the grow space buddy even if its not finished will help us help you;-) Also install a AC 120mm fan to your 400w hood/refecltor try keeping the bulb cool thats want i do with my 150w and now my grow box is banging;-) Same goes for any bulb even CFL if you have air moving over the bulb they stay cooler making your grow space stay cooler.

Sounds like this should be intriguing. Sub'd up.
In regards to your medium, it depends on ur preference and comfort level. As for nutes; to each his own I usually never exceed 50% of he reccomended dose. Veg nuts could be optional l, but I start to use in week 3, and then flower nutes from week 5/6 and on.

Subbed :) i've had an eye on the bubblelicious, cool to see how you get on with cfls. I'm gonna go with a dual spec but probably the 125w, money problems etc. but with some small extra bulbs surrounding. Good luck!

Welcome aboard the grow guys nice to see people are interested :)

Alright slim I do have a pic of the cab but i need to edit rotate upload etc. I used to have a huge oscillating fan blowing on my hps it did help but only for so long with the lack of ventilation here it eventually just ended up blowing warm air around.

Loud im so clueless about nutes its unreal ! id always planned to use just water in my first grow but a fellow grower gave me some bloom nutes so have just added that ever since i definatly want to look into the overdrive i read about :)

ideally i wanna avoid soil , just mainly because its an arse to collect without a car but having no pump means pebbles are slighty pointless.

was considering duel spec myself cherry but i think u lose a little off each spectrum to get the mix i think u get better use of the spectrum from x2 150w bulbs red and blue than i would from a duel spec'd 300w, iirc.

So my delivery arrived bang on time too ! will defo use the same supplier courier service !

Here's the pics of the wardrobe its a fairly large size i have the dimensions scribbled somewhere, as you can see i have a small issue with light like , i previously used tape but it drew attention to the cab so going to add some wood to the back of the door to solve the problem.

The 2 pictures at the bottom of the page are of my kc36 cutting, the eagle eyed will notice it already has hair this is due to the cut being taken in early flower stage , it seems to have switched back to veg nicely tho and is doing well. before i put the cutting into soil the roots were longer than the plant itself. Im not sure if this cutting will go into this grow but for now whilst its my only plant ill document it , its currently sat outside chilling in my deck chair enjoying the sun :P

I had planned to just hang the cfl from its lead , looking at the size of this fucker im thinking its going to be too much stress on the wire. So im going to have to support it somehow :S ideas please ! joys of new equipment :P

if you've got the cash to splash get the reflector for it. ive just replace mine and have a spare one if you want a cheap option? otherwise get some garden wire and strip the plastic off it tie it through a couple of the loops at the end and to the bar at the top of the cupboard. or any wire that's obviously not plastic coated haha

 jesus h, it's huge, how heavy?
Maybe worth looking on the DIY thread for a solution? Don's suggestion sounds good, +rep for both of you

Hey don thanks for popping in currently dont have the cash should be at the end of the month tho ill have to look at reflectors. i planned to have x4 300w , which i think due to size can only happen if i hang them ill have to have a play about. Now wheres that damn garden wire gone !

hahah its not actually that heavy on second looks i just unscrewed it from the lead and it appears that the connector on the end of the lead weighs more than the cfl think its ceramic. Cfls fairly light its just the length of it makes it feel weighty.

they're pretty cheap to be honest should only be about 15-20 squid but probably 6 bar postage as they're quite large. any particular reason you didnt go hps? just out of interest. 4 of those big cfl's will probably put out just as much if not more heat than a 250w hps.

also hanging them vertically will drastically cut down the amount of lumens facing downwards.

I don't know how DIY friendly you are but you could probably buy a piece of sheet tin and construct one big reflector and just attach the e40 fittings to it.

Haha ive literatly just given my mate a list of shit to go collect from the hardware store if he gets chance lol

and thats also where my last £20 has gone :( i get payed friday tho so ill probably just knock something up.

i was just looking at the light wondering about hori vert , could i not have some vert inbetween the plants or is that a waste of time ?

I dont like how u keep mentioning heat lol as that the reason i moved away from my hps lol are you using similar cfl don ?

yeah i used to have the exact same light ? they do generate a fair bit of heat well. you'll see soon enough. you could hang them between the plants vertically yeah, you'd probably need to rotate the plants every one in a while tho.

a 400w hps in that cupboard would have gotten hot fast. have you got any ventilation? fans filters? a coolhood for your hps would probably be better all round. if youve got a point you can extract hot air out of the room that's deffo the best option.
