Im assuming auto flowering occurs when your growing from clone. My question and curiosity stirs up when i try to reason and research why or what determines auto-flowering. if there is a process which manipulates the natural grow cycle, initiating auto-flowering. i would be greatly interested in learning the process. benefits and losses.
thanks to all

autoflowers are not from clones...they are strains from seeds bread with the ruderalis type of cannabis which make them automatically start flowering regardless of light cycle.

rep +1 . Rudaleris is a scientific species(so to speak, in the scientific name) in which all plants of that species auto flower?! =)

auto flower is the way to go if you want bud fast and want small plants. regular seeds are for growing a high yeild.

thanks for that massah, the article states
---Cannabis ruderalis has a lower THC content than either C. sativa or C. indica; thus, it has little recreational use. However, C. indica strains are frequently cross-bred with C. ruderalis to produce plants combining a higher THC content with the hardiness and reduced height of ruderalis.

So most auto flowering seeds will produce a lower potency than a cross bred clone or do they (meaning seed banks) have auto flowering cannabis rutaleris crossed with indica from a seed?

my auto flower has 12-14% thc..compared to like white widow which is like 20%..nothing to do with clones..autoflowers are ruderalis crossed with an indica or sativa.

so all the auto-flower seeds on the market are already crossed with sativa or indica which explains the fact that a purebred rudaleris would probably have a significantly lower thc potency but the cross breeding amps up the potency per-say. thanks for helping me thru my thoughts

ya pretty much theres three types of cannabis; sativa, indica and ruderalis. ruderalis is the autoflower traits but isnt very potent so they breed it for acouple generations with sativas or indicas picking out the seeds that autoflower keeping that trait in perticular untill most of the rudealis traits are gone and replaced with the recreational potent traits of either sativas or indicas exept the trait that makes it an autoflower

my afgan kush ryder is about 23%thc.... But In my reg grows, I def use reg plants.... auto seeds are for someone with small spaces basically. They are ruderalis plants, they flower depending how old they are as opposed to how many hours of darkness. I have a diesel ryder in my current veg box under 18/6.... its my first ryder and its pretty cool... just tiny lol.
