Auto-Flower Short plants

Hello!
Newbie grower here. On my third grow, first one hit the finish line, second crashed and burned.

It’s my first Auto Flower and have noticed that the plants are very short. Buds seem to be forming nicely but they look like small bonsai trees. Is this due to of the genetics or is there something I can do to stretch them some. Maybe too much light? Running about 900 Mmols.

Thanks in advance.

I’ve only grown one auto so im no expert but I think they usually go a couple weeks before preflowering looks like your started super early. Could be genetics or could be stress pushing them to flower early. Autos are finicky.

Autos are generally much shorter, though those do look a little stouter than in my experience. They look good though. Can you post a couple more pics?

Thats a lot of light for autos, how many hours? Is that number from a PAR meter?

Its genetics sometimes they just stay stout. I grew a White Widow from victory seeds outdoors this year and reading some reviews sounded like it would be a nice big plant. Planted in a 15 gallon pot and now that fucker is almost done and is about 10 inches tall and one solid bud.

Still working how to defoliate and lollipop, and doing it at the correct time, may have did it too soon. Thanks for the insight.

I've grown a bunch of autos over the years. Any time you germinate an auto seed, the "clock is ticking" so to speak, because the plants automatically start flowering at a genetically predetermined time, generally around three weeks in. If anything is off in your grow for that critical first three weeks of vegetative growth, you'll see short, stunted plants. A lot of times the plant can recover and finish flowering just fine. I grew one early on that, I kid you not, was as big as a a bic lighter and had one little tiny cola on it. I let it finish and smoked it for the sheer novelty of it. So, just because they look good now doesn't mean something wasn't off a little in the beginning. That's the blessing and curse of running autos.

If you want reliable results you need to grow photoperiod plants and cut clones from them. Seeds are always going to have a ton of variation every time you pop them. Short, Tall, Wide, Narrow, Sticky, Not sticky, Smelly, Bland, etc..

Yeah I think I may have messed up on the PH first few weeks. That’s a funny story about your short auto. Thanks for your insight!
