Just want to find out from someone here in oz how long it takes to finish flower. Mines been 8wks next monday and she doesn't look anywhere near ready. From reading in this forum most ppl say about 9 1/2 to 10wks.
no mate'sorry...whats the parentage? sounds like you got your answer though...why do you say no where near? hasnt she swollen yet? got some pics?

Just check the ph of your reservoir after you've topped up. Ph is a funny thing. When I grew a flood & drain set-up the ph thing drove me to distraction. I would see significant change within 12 hours sometimes with nothing added in between tests [?] all by itself.
I now use coco in 20 litre pots & can't remember the last time I checked ph levels.

Tassie huh? Lucky bugger, you'd be able to grow all year with your 'mild' summers. I'm east coast 50 k's inland so I usually only grew through winter [I grew enough in 1 grow to last me the year] but I'm attempting to grow for 8-9 months of the year now.
Anyone got tips of growing during the warmer months?

Yeah it's wilting. I don't think you can over-water expanded clay, it's brilliant for flood & drain. At what rate are you running the 'drip'. How close is your light? How strong is your light? It doesn't look too bad though, it's nice & green. If your new to growing try growing in coco. Only have to feed/water every 2 days. No ph worries unless you aggressively fertilise.

Air-cons start to burn up too much energy. Depends on the strain as to heat tolerance. One late spring I was finishing of my girls & we had like 4 days of temps in the high 30's. By the afternoon they looked like shit but by early morning that looked none-the-worse.

Hey Grey Lord it's in clay balls the pump is a small one like 250LTRS an hr also I put the water pump on a tier 15 mins on 15 off light I put it at like a foot and a half 2 feet away cause the plant wast likeing it it its a 400 watt plant also look a bit worse now all droopy an that it is still green however water temp is like 22c dunno if this is to low. I think the problem is a was messing round trying to get ph right an put to much ph down in there an maybe too much nutes to start with hope she makes it. I have now flushed the system for the last 12 hrs or so with straight water

Hey jzs. Yeah what I suspected, ph problems. Not that there's anything wrong with your system, I'm not sure it's the best for beginners unless you've got an experienced grower looking over your shoulder. Try coco on your next one. Just give it 50% nutes until it picks up, cross your fingers & hope she comes good. Apart from the wilting she looks healthy. So you might be lucky.
I've got a 'disperser' that sits directly under the globe so I can get my 400w lamp within 8" of the girls. You can get your light a bit closer. Move it a couple of inches closer each day until it's a 12-10 inches away, that's safe for a 400. You can tell by the plant if the lamps too close.
I'm no expert on water temps but I think that 22c is ok. Some use an aquarium heater in the colder weather. I use lukewarm water on my pots.

What is the optimal water temp for a reservoir? Anyone?

Morning family, does anybody know of a strain that can help parkinson's? Thanks
Hey mate, according to the latest studies are showing it's the THC itself that reduces inflammation and prevents brain function degradation. This is fairly recent only a couple of weeks old.

Δ9–TETRAHYDROCANNABINOL IS PROTECTIVE THROUGH PPARγ DEPENDENT MITOCHONDRIAL BIOGENESIS IN A CELL CULTURE MODEL OF PARKINSON'S DISEASE

Abstract

Introduction Cannabinoids such as Δ9–tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9–THC) are neuroprotective in animal and cell culture models of Parkinson's disease (PD). In a PD cell culture model we recently demonstrated that Δ9–THC is neuroprotective through activation of the nuclear receptor peroxisomal proliferator–activated receptor γ (PPARγ). Furthermore, activation by specific agonists rosiglitazone and pioglitazone, has also been found neuroprotective. PPARγ is a nuclear receptor whose activation can lead to the expression of proteins involved in the de novo synthesis of mitochondria. One such protein is the PPARγ co–activator 1 α (PGC1α) as it co–activates NRF–1 mediated gene expression which is essential for the production of nuclear encoded, mitochondrial proteins. Here we investigate the effect of Δ9–THC and pioglitazone on mitochondrial biogenesis.

Methods SH–SY5Y neuroblastoma cells were differentiated with retinoic acid and exposed to the PD relevant mitochondrial complex 1 inhibitor, MPP+. Δ9–THC and pioglitazone were co–administered with the minimum concentration of the specific PPARγ antagonist T0070907 able to block the protective effect of each compound respectively for 48 hours. The production of reactive oxygen species was then measured, proteins were extracted for Western blotting and total DNA was extracted to determine mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) content by QPCR.

Results Δ9–THC resulted in significant inhibition of MPP+ induced oxidative stress which was completely reversed by T0070907 whereas pioglitazone induced reduction in oxidative stress did not seem to be PPARγ dependent. Accordingly, both pioglitazone and Δ9–THC were able to restore MPP+ induced down–regulation of PGC1α, to the level of untreated control. This effect was inhibited by T0070907 in the case of Δ9–THC but not pioglitazone. Whilst NRF1 expression remained unaffected by all treatments, the mitochondrial transcription factor (tfam) which is necessary for mtDNA replication was reduced with MPP+ and up–regulated by Δ9–THC only. Similarly, mtDNA content and the mitochondrial marker COX4 were only increased by Δ9–THC.

Conclusions Even though Δ9–THC and pioglitazone are both protective against MPP+ only Δ9–THC induces PPARγ dependent mitochondrial biogenesis, a mechanism that may be beneficial for the treatment of PD.

Well thats interesting Eche, thankyou, also just recently, studies on a drug called Pimavanserin, show signs of relief without the psychosis... More good news... Was wondering if any strain softens the muscle spasms?
