is there anyone from victoria that would be able to explain some things about ferns to me?
Me and a mate have found a good spot for next years growing season thats covered in ferns, so theres no chance anyone could randomly stumble across the spots, but we're worried they might die during summer then we have marijuana plants that everyone would be able to see walkin threw the bushes! If they live for years or something then im sure we have found the best spot ever, but this it the only real worry!

can anyone pleasee help? :)

well if theres heaps of ferns there i would imagine the spot isnt very sunny and possibly very moist to wet which i would think is what you would want to avoid outdoors?

Hey Watermelon

I got one of them in my backyard well pretty sure it looks the same from the google image search, I could be wrong but i have never seen it go brown or die off every time i walk outside it is always green and healthy looking, I had the same idea as you near me there is a huge blackberry shrub field covered with a metal fencing n barb wire due to quick sand then i asked myself how the hell i would get inside the blackberry shrubs without cutting myself into 100s and 1000s.

you could read this http://www.home.aone.net.au/~byzantium/ferns/about.html I dont know my brains not working very well today but from the sounds of it as long as the area is kept moist the plant should be fine all year around, Just thinking the ones I have might be a different strain etc so maybe the ones you are looking at do lose everything in summer/winter? I notice a few mention summer n winter ferns.

We cleared 3 spots in amongst all the ferns, and their right on a hill facing towards the sun with no ferns blocking the sun from where we will be planting, not to overreact but the soil is bloody brilliant, although we still got a good soil mixture we will be making for the plants anyway but it will go well with the soil already there!

Hey mate,

Thats good to hear, i cant quite match the fern with one online to see exactly how long it will live for, but by the looks of it and from what i've read about other ferns and what you've just said the chances are they should be their year round.
After 5 of our plants being stolen this season we are trying to make next season absolutely perfect, but it seems it might just have to be a risk we have to take and hope these ferns dont die!

haha luckily these ferns are very easy to walk threw and no blackberry shrubs to get in our way! Although their was a tiger snake that got in my way when we were checking the area out, so gotta be a bit weary of that!

But cheers ill check out that site and see what i can see

Hahah you should try to train the snake to attack unwanted people who enter the area so you wont get a repeat of your last grow :( not sure if you can train snakes but hey worth a shot lol!

oh smart smart what happens if they feel like a little buzz and eat some? I found some HD pictures of birds eating MJ crops lol its pretty cute XD off topic but since you work with snakes you wouldn't happen to know much about the licenses required to keep reptiles? nothing venomous like a black mamba or such but i was wondering how hard they are to get really want a little snake to keep on my hand lol long as they dont bite me!!! I did google it but the site makes no sense.

I totally agree with odlaw, most Ferns develop a healthy moss/algae on the trunks due to the moist enviroment they enjoy and thrive in, not the best environment for an outdoor crop, try to find higher ground that allows water to run off,

Let me re explain. The ferns arent near where we will be planting, they are simply surrounding the area of the spots we have chosen, so that way if someone happens to be walking threw the chances of them going in and looking for weed plants is very low. However what i'm more getting at is the spots we've found high up on the hill is attracted to sun all day, so theres no point us going to a higher spot to let water run off, because when it comes down to it the plants will need to be fed on a regular basis due to the amount of sun exposure anyway.

Its not a very moist environment these ones live in, especially considering they survived the whole summer looking very healthy and hardly being fed any water at all, maybe Melbourne ferns are a bit different to the ones you will be thinking of.

Thanks WaterMelon :) Dam there is not even a test this is going to be easier then i imagined, I think i have seen your boss in some video he let some snakes bite him? could be wrong but looks a lot like him and rings a bell lol, thanks again man.

no worries mate! Yeah thats the one haha he let the worlds deadliest snake bite him 6 times because our snakes got no venom in them but the other companies refuse to believe it, so it was just a thing to prove to them basically, but they still refuse to believe it lol ahh well!

Totally random post... But will return to Oz after nearly ten years next year.

Just curious - depending on season (low vs hi supply), what's an oz worth these days?

Does it vary much from state to state/by region?

Thanks!:joint::joint::joint:

Hey Weedian

Around me they go from anywhere from 240-320 normal if you just go to a new guy its more 260-280, that Melbourne mate in Perth gets a OZ for 200 so i guess there is a little difference.

hope that kind of helped

How do you know if it is full?
I know his is full because after I type a shitload and press "send", it tells me his inbox is full and I have pretty much wasted a lot of keystrokes :-)

At the bottom of your "inbox" page it will have a red/green status bar showing how full your inbox is - it doesn't take long for the 50 limit to be reached.
