hit the nail on the head it is realy good to use, wheather its 80/20%perlite or like im about to try 50/50% it dont mater
as long as you con sider the following:

a course medium like perlite or expanded clay, would be expected to have a different watering programme to that of a fine medium like coco, or peat, so the more drainage the more frequency of watering is required, the less drainage the less frequent
Is the coco it self expensive i really lookin forward to try this now

no coco is very inexpensive (well depending on your budget) it costs me $30 for 50LTR bag which is sufficient for atleast 10 plants from seed to cropping ...and if your really tight you can reuse it by sifting out the roots and then just ph water flushing it to remove excess ph build up and nutrients but i just throw it over my lawn and garden (prolly why i have the greenest lawn in the street :P)

i was sceptical before using but am having phenomenal results so all i can say is give it a go and see how you go
also cpl of the nutrients company's make coco specific nutrients now so makes it very easy and not a hit and miss affair

edkins i would try niks mix if yer new to the garb. it's virtually impossible to fuck up and drains really quickly which is the way forward, it also has perlite vermiculite neem etc mixed in to what i consider a perfect ratio. i dont know which side of town yer on so can't help with stockists but i know most of the hydro stores on my side have it, a place i went to once in epping had it too. good luck. oh and it's about 35 a bag if you dont get arseholed.

hey Edskins if you try a coco perlite mix, id say just mix it yourself, and the more drainage the better, if you think youve put in enough perlite, put in some more because as you mix it with the coco it dont go far.

the resoning here is weed roots need to breath, not be sufocated by too much watering, thats when you will see yellow leaves apears, so as long as you got good drainage your weed will luv ya, ive even seen 100% perlite hydro grows, but thats crazy,

just mix heaps of perlite with whatever coco you can find, and start feeding (by hand every two days when seedlings, no pumps) with a coco formula at the mmls suggested on the bottle and come harvest time, you'll have a grow to make the pro's jealous... best of luck

edskins - i'd go to the hydro guys on maroondah hwy ringwood, he can be a bit of a dick if he doesn't know you but is the best dude on the eastern side imo. he stocks niks mix which i truly believe will be the best option for someone new to coco, it's almost impossible to make a mistake coz the newb inclination is to overwater and this stuff drains like nothing else i've seen. the place is a little further up from eastland across from ringwood lake. he doesn't try to sell you shit you don't actually need and his prices are good, esp when he gets to know ya.

hey guys and gals,

just wondering how long it should take before i see flowers on my white rhino? They are in thier second week of the switch and just started giving them half grow/flower nutes but will switch to all flower tomorrow. Im PRETTY certain they all have hairs and not sacs...will take some snaps tomorrow to clarify :D

O also thanks to streetlegal and co for helping with the yellowing. The yellow seems to have stoppped spreading and pigmentation slowly returning now :)

cheers jimmy. From what i can tell they all female?....but those odds are pretty weird? That said i threw out a good 30 or so other seedlings and only down to 7 or 8 so i guess in retro spec odds were pretty good.

Ill take pics tomorrow as im 99% sure they females. I just want to start to see some buds!!!!
