And introduce the need for a heater in winter
Eh never had to warm up anything in the winter time. If you have enough panels, the heat is there! Different story when the outdoor temps reach about 40+ degrees in the peak of summer. What am I supposed to then? Run an AC around the clock? Besides I can't be at every single of my tents at all times. HPS means I have constantly make adjustments to the temperature and light distance. Not so bad if you have a single grow but a total nightmare when there is more than one.

Of course you're going to disagree ...I don't know math you're running in your head but cooling isn't cheap.

if you aren’t running ac through summer on multi light grows you aren’t running correct climate controls. Might as well just run blurples at that point because your just playing games. Climate , light, nutes - order of importance in a grow.

Yeah for sure not shitting on leds at all theyre great, and if you dont do things like use cool tubes and exhaust out of the grow room youre gonna have problems with hps for sure thats why i said it might not be suitable to you.

Just to be clear im not saying leds are shit each to their own, just when you say that hps uses more power, and you gotta constantly adjust temp and light height is just wrong, all these things against hps have been spear headed by the led companys

Cool tubes are the necessity for hps in wa/australia. If you dont use them yes you will run your elec bill up with air con. With cool tubes id dare say theyre as cool as leds, my room sits at early to mid 30s on those 40 degree days, but that is with my evap air con on but id have that on anyway

Through summer I am cranking an AC, but it's a portable one I bought off Kogan for about $500. I only bought it cause I can turn it on through my phone so I can check on multiple grows at once.

I could be wrong, but I felt if I introduced a HPS system I would need to upgrade to something stronger to pull that extra heat out.

I don't think it's a conspiracy to push panels. I mean you're going to have to make adjustments anyway, I just feel that things can't go as wrong when using LED's especially if I fuck up and don't show up one day.

Hmmm I might have to look into that. How's it work?

Did more plants and less veg get you the same yield? If you've tried that is. I'm just about to fire up my other tent and I've got 6, 600w and 12 plants may add more light if I need to.
Id say so hard to say last grow which was the first grow with an extra plant i yielded what i would with 4 big yielding plants, and that was with avg yielders and 1 of the 5 was only a foot tall before i decided to chuck it in with them, and one plant was a considerably low yielder. So id say yes it meant more yield, wont know for sure till ive done a couple summer harvests

Yeah you’d have to upgrade but it’d be to something much more efficient. Those portables are power hungry bitches. split systems that cool the entire room not just the tents are the go.

Not a conspiracy just marketing. And id say yeah if you were to switch to hps youd have to change your setup for sure stick with leds just get good ones.

Cool tubes are a generally pyrex tube around the globe that you can attatch an exhaust fan to, so as your exhaust fan exhausts the air it cools the globes, cool tubes filter out a bit of light/spectrum but if you see my grows you can see that its a negligible amount. I have my cool tube venting out into my roof you cant just have them venting into your grow room or it defeats the purpose

end of the day leds are only worth running if your buying spectrum. Quality Led effectively allows you to run more photons for the same climate controls without spectrum degradation. Pretty much can get to co2 light levels with only standard cooling systems unlike if you where running bulk hps to the point of co2.

quality hps just happen to be heaps cheaper.

Whats your plans for cooling thats gonna be a hot ass tent, my mate who has a smaller tent (2.4x2.4) has 6 600s crammed in there and he just killed a crop when he left it for a few days and we had a couple days of slightly warm (24 degree) weather, he just thinks more light is better and doesnt think about the temps

Hey bully I am setting up a new room and it's limited for verticle space (1.8-2m) and I'm trying to decide whether to go high end led or MH/HPS....
With cool tubes or a ducted hood how close to the canopy can you keep your 600w HPS?
