ATTN: CO patients and caregivers/dispensaries

Colorado state senator Al White is pushing a new agenda in the senate in regards to medical cannabis.

Reports on the late news at 10 on 9news KUSA TV (NBC). In the story state senator Al White claimed that dispensaries are primarily run by drug cartels, as fronts to sell marijuana. Often times according to Mr. White, are sold to individuals who are not legal patients. He proposes a state run medicinal cannabis distribution and cultivation program, which would in effect close all dispensaries and make it illegal for patients to cultivate thier own medicine. So in effect this would completely eliminate the caregiver as it were, all together and create a monopoly for the state. The funds collected by this program would help to fund educational programs across the state, and some of the funds are also proposed to go to state health programs.
So buckle up and get ready for the new battle we'll all be facing. We must not let this happen. :cuss:

This is bullshit. I haven't even gotten a chance to move there yet (which is where I was headed in about a year) and these assholes are trying to reform the laws in the worst way possible. Everyone in CO needs to ban together and fight this proposal!!

He won't gain any support in CO on the measure so don't even worry about it.

The state is in a budget crisis, nobody is going to support a bill to create a new government agency and put an end to the sales tax revenue the dispensaries are generating.

What will be interesting is the court decision on the appeal of the caregiver ruling.

The state would much rather collect all the profits being made by the dispensaries statewide, then they get tax and profits. They say that they want to have licensed pharmacists distribute medicine. But that would conflict with the license they must obtain from the DEA, since Cannabis is still a schedule 1 controlled substance according to the DEA. So it is going to be interesting. It will also be interesting to see if CDPHE tries to appeal the judges decision.

I don't think a state can get as involved as colo was trying. Not as long as the feds have it scheduled like they do, thats the same reason docs don't write scripts they write rec's, the feds classification makes it hard for them. Finally there own rules are catching up with them..

Didn't think about that, but it makes perfect sense. I'm glad to see them having to fight against their own useless laws for once, lol.

Does anyone know this politician's email address? For that matter shouldn't we have a formal lobbying group who are working on our behalf to lobby ALL state politicians?
