Attention closet growers.. Its that easy a/c!!!

Most closet growers have extensive trouble keeping there basic closet cold.
Ill be trying a fairly reasonable way to get cold air into that closet

trying in it my buddy grow soon hope fully 4 or 5 days

https://www.rollitup.org/cfl-growing/206913-iblaze-dros-cfl-g13-thai-16.html
so you have an A/C vent in almost every bedroom.
There a diagrams of most steps to help
and an ac vent is
where your cold air comes out of if some didnt know lol

MATERIALS:

Cardboard box.

Duck(t) tape

blue tape.(doesnt mess up paint)

hanger an strings, or straps.(if needed).

Air ducting 3"inches wide and X' feet long.

2 CPU Fan

TOOLS:

phillips screw driver

a hammer and nails (if your strapping the duct work) or
screwgun an screws

tin snips (metal cutting scissors)
For the duct work

regular scissors or a utility knife whatever your more comfortable with for cutting the box apart and sizing it

Unscrew the fours screw attached to the corners, and
remove the vent cover.
Cut a piece of card board that matches the vents whole.
Now you must purchase your X' by X' ducting (standards three inches around).
Cut a circle three inches in your card board (or whatever diameter your duct is).
Now properly attach your card board to the ducting, make sure it is air tight I advise duct tape cheap and fairly strong enough if you would like to be classy use reflective tape. haha.
Now its time to make side walls for your cardboard so that it will fit properly into your vent.
It will look like a box with no bottom with a whole in the top.
I would advise using duck tape for making the box that'll fit into the vent
and using blue painters tape holding the edge of the cardboard taping it to the ac vent so that it is not ruining your paints finish,
but still holding your newly equiped vent box.
after proper installation and your box is sittin well in place run the duct to the closet
I ADVISE MORE TAPE.
or
if you dont mind messing upp the walls a little go with hooks and strings and or straps that are proper size.
put the duct roughly in between where the light and the plants meet.
so you now have a cold ac feed into your plants

if you would like you may take 2 computer fans and space them nicely through the duct work pushing air from the air vent through your duct in your plants

Down Side
Obliviously your door will have to be cracked to let in your air duct feed and it will be out in the open for anyone who comes into your room.

Up Side
It can be put up and brought down in no time at all i would guess after you built the actual system itwould take 10 minutes after you assembled it.
and just slap your original vent cover back on and its back to normal ready to be cooled instantly.

The fan might not be necessary i will give a fer sure answer after testing

hahaha this might be way to simple of an idea i justt never thought about it and havent seen anyone discuss it
share your thoughts

Here are a few "Paint" pictures.
to diagram the directions of above
As I said this will be experimented with very soon so stay in tune
I will continue to update my experiment please comment if you have tried this or just an educated opinion.

only problem i could see is if you were worried about smell. once the ac cuts off cuz your home is cooled down the smell is going to go back up thru that ac line and fill your vents with that sweet aroma. next thing youll know that smell is all over and your running around with a can of freebreeze. other wise id say thats an easy temporary setup untill you can pick up a portable ac.

very very very true i could put a one way swing flap that they use in exhaust fans to block from back flow thanks man
I love this site there is really nothin better than bein able to critique ideas
and yes it is temporary tryin to capitalize a little before making larger investments so you have to be a little creative lol
appreciate that though man :-P

yeah i hear ya, im still learning alot my self. most of the things ive done have been mainly contributed to reading things off this site. i built a grow cab and used soil, and now i built a tent and going the hydro route. its just all experimenting and learing from mistakes. but i will say as long as your temps dont go above 85- 90max youll probebly be ok. my plants are loveing it at 81-82 with the lights on.

ohh ya man i feel ya i have done three grows previous before every seeing this site and no joke my knowledge kills what i knew it gives you the backing to try stuff you normally wouldnt even consider or think
]and ya the temp in my boys room hovers to 80-83 right now but im hooking him up with my 400 watt mh that he's puttin a hps conversion bulb in for flowering and thats when the a/c thing came into play because last time my grow room gotta little hot with it in there so came up with this till we can get a single room cooler:joint:

do i really need 2 cpu fans ? and what size.. can i get these from ebay ? then where do i get the ac adapter from ?

Im sure one would be more than fine my friend
it depends on the distance to your duct and how far the air has to travel before it gets to your op.
this could be looking into kinda far but cold air falls so if your duct work is coming down it should have a fair amount of pressure by itself by vortex. but i could just be getting to scientific or some shit lol
so if i went with one id make sure to get one of the bigger one at least 50 cfm
just to give it a nice push
I am tryin in a few days without the cpu fans at first just to compare and ill give you a fer sure answer on that.
yes ebay does sell them but im sure your local electronic store would have them as well there are few down here that do least Id call around to a few and find out

and the ac adapter can be aquired one of two ways if you have a charger that matches the volts and amps then it will work make sure its an exact match i wouldnt take the risk of tryin close or others youll probably blow a fuse.
AND you can buy the exact size at most electronics stores when you get your cpu fans although if for some reason they do not carry them ive heard radio shack has quite a stock

I think ac adapter range in price a little but run from 6 to 15 buck and a fan can be as low as 3.50 to as high as 15 or 20
soo its pretty much just fit to what you think and your budget needs

feeel free to ask away anything guys

That might help in some cases. What I wonder is this: the temp in a closet is closely related to the temp in the rest of the room. The best way for me to keep a closet cool has been to add more AC to the room, and get good circ to the closet. This might work but it will be taking cold air from the rest of the room.

If you think of the room and the closet as a system, this adds no cold air to the system. The better and of course more costly approach is to add a portable AC bringing more cold air to the system. Then you have to vent that thing. Heat is a bitch.

ya its consistent struggle out here
and your right about the having good circulation in your room it helps allot for sure
but the temp is the relative to the room with out light when adding light your gonna look at nice temp increase
so the idea is that will cool the main source of heat
this is more of an experiment more than anything but im pretty sure we'll achieve lower temps with a direct feed right by the under side of the light and having a a normal fan on the top shelf pushin hot air out. the
but Im gonna toy with it a little as well and i'll log temp results or what ever just to see
but trying condense the cold hair right to the plants seems fairly reasonable
its also a pain trying get good air circulation in some rooms as well
but i like hearing opinions
appreciate all the input

depends what you mean by box and one plant

if your trying to do a stealth grow this thread doenst make stealth

ahah isnt much help its meant more air feeds for closets

but any ways
one plant i would veg for a month maybe month and half or so if not longer and scrog it till you fill the screen under like 12, 23 watts cfl giving you 16,000 lumens and few to cpu fans to pull hot air out the top and some to bring it in on the bottom
put into 12 12 and watch it yeild id do it in a pot that matches the box perfectly to utilize root mass
hack apart a dresser is the stealthiest

there are allot of good tips through this website thats already written itll help youll learn allot more quicker reading a few of these journals and grow ops

unless your confusing a box with somethin else idk really what your trying to ask

well its not really a stealth box.. its like a cabinet that im using... its going to have a door on the front.. so was wondering how long in length and width.. and the height.. i will be making the box tommorow.. therefore what you will tell me will be very vital info..

I 'm doing something similar, only I'm running duct str8 from my central air. It's a 4.5x6.5 tent wit a 1000watt light in there, It keeps it cool. my average temp when off is 90 when the air is on its 82.

thanks dave im glad i wasnt the only one with this idea lol that sounds pretty good were only goin half that light size so i think we will be golden
love the input my man
overall do you thinks its more effective then tryin to circulate air from the bedroom into the closet with a fan??

one plant using a cabinet
allow a minium of 6 to 8 iches at the top for your cfls when its almost done flowering
plus the pot size your gonna use which is usually 10-15 inches in height
so there alone you need about 25 inches
plus 30-35 inches to grow
so over all i would go with 60" tall
and 30 to 36 wide and minium depth of 16 inches

these are pretty much the dimension of my stealth dresser in the works almost finished
but i woulda made it about 60" tall if could have its only like 48 or 50"

if you can
rap the inside with mylar they sell a mylar roll out it looks like a car reflector at home depot but its a roll so that might be easier than ordering it and you can just tack it up not stick it
