SO I just got my Deadly Nightshade seeds in. I love rare plants, and I have a fascination with deadly plants.

I may start a Deadly Nightshade grow journal here soon. Just having a plant in my collection that has been so infamous for as far back as the middle ages is going to be chillingly neat =)

Yeah awesome plant, The wife of Emperor Augustus used it to murder her enemies. It was the cause for alot of witch hunts in the middle ages as it was blamed for witch craft. Women in Spain used the nightshade berries cosmetically by extracting the deadly liquid from the berries and putting droplets in there eyes. This causes the pupil to dilate severely which was considered sexy. The Romans used it for orgy parties due to the alkaloids causing the sensation of outer body experience etc. Also used by Shaman's to "shapeshift" into animals because of the detached experience it seems to cause.

One day I may get up the balls enough to extract the berries and put a drop or two on an aspirin or something and see for myself................ (shiver)

If I suddenly never show up on RIU then we all know what happened.. I'll be chillin with the man upstairs =P
