Hey chaoticmetal, i like this thread...real philanthropist. So im doing my first grow using 100% perlite in a hempy bucket and i just had a couple of seeds germinate in a wet towel. how often should i water the sprouted seeds after i stick them in the perlite? i had one die on me, i think maybe i wasnt watering it enough, perlite doesnt look like it holds water too well.

Perlite really isn't used to ofetn on it's own, unless in some sort of drip or spray fed hydro system on a feeding timer. This way the perlite doesnt dry out to quickly, cause as you said it doesn not retain water well. Are you using a hydro system, or are you just trying to use perlite as your medium?

G'Day. I just bought a 600watt HPS light and am intending to grow under that light in soil. Will I have problems trying to get the plant to veg because the light spectrum is high in the amber kinda colour. Has anyone just grown under a HPS and got a good yeild. Plz help...This is my first time doing it by myself..Cheers

its basically just perlite as my medium, its kind of a hand fed hydro i guess. its this system
https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/59705-hempy-collective.html

could i maybe get some soil or something and just mix it in and still use this system so i dont have to water as often? id take pictures but i dont own a camera and my phone sucks
I may be missing something, but the system looks just like any normal soil potted system. Only change seems to be that the drainage holes are moved from the bottom to one bigger hole in the side. There doesn't seem to be a pump, timer, reservoir or anything other than the medium changed to perlite. Personally, if I am correct, I would just do a soil grow, or invest in making/buying a true hydro setup, which seems to be what you are going for.

Though you already asked me this question differently before I'll say it again. There is no problem, and very little if any, difference between vegging in MH or HPS. Using MH works just as well, maybe slightly better, the plus is it uses less lumens and bulbs last longer than HPS, with still doing same job. So you can save your HPS bulbs for just flowering, I have done several grows with all HPS and several Grows with vegging with MH with little noticeable difference. The one thing ya do not want to do is flower with MH.

I have been flowering my plant int the closet for about three weeks now. I know its female becuase of all the white stigmas. No sign so far of male flowers. I was just wondering how long does it take for the stigmas to really start to get after it. You know for the colas to realy start to form? Im using two 84 watt cfls. One warm and one cool. Purchased from stealthhydro.com. My plant was abouth 2 foot tall when I changed to 13/11.

Well it all depends on the strain and all the other factors involved as well. 2 84 watt cfl's should do a decent job on good genetics with some good nutes. At week 3 my plants are starting to have popcorn nugs everywhere, but I have alot more light too. If the plants healthy and whatnot, you should start seeing colas forming in the next week or 2, then it should start to really pack on. Be patient. check out my grow it's documented all the way through each week.

600-1000 watt lights hanging 3ft from canopy can use 500-800 ppm co2
600-1000 watt lights hanging 2ft from canopy can use 800-1200 ppm co2
'' " 1ft " "1200-2000 ppm co2

If ya tell me how far your canopy is from lights ill figure the ppm for ya. Then ya just set that on your regulator.

hey thanks for lookin in on my post earlier what do ya reckon on this????????
I don't think it's anything to serious, just keep watching and let me know if it gets worse, the new growth looks fine, and sometimes a slight yellowing happens. I pluck off at least a few yellowing leaves off my plants every couple days. Nothing wrong with being cautious though.

can you cut fan leaves off in flowering to fatten buds or does it hurt the plant...even if it sends the plant back a week will it produce more meds???

It isn't really a good idea unless the leaves are more than 50% yellow, at that point they take more energy to stay running than they give the plant. Otherwise I only remove fan leaves that are blatantly shading larger colas in the last 2 weeks of budding. Occasionally in the last few days before I cut the plant I remove 75% of fan leaves to push last bit of energy to the buds.
