i had one light with feminized plant clones. it did fine. another table had one of the feminized plants on it and it was the first one to go herm, i killed it right away. then one of the strains i had going for two years now without a problem went too two weeks later, non fem. idk, i just lost two tables and i have no idea why. low co2 maybe?

My partner @trich city leaves his damn lights on the time, and he does not have a problems with hermies.
i had a light leak last run under a door and i had a couple go on me, 3 went bad but they were also genetics because a couple other guys and a girl ran the same and had them herm too, but a couple guys didn't have a problem too. I'm running one everyone except me had a problem with and its doing fine. damn hermis comin out of nowhere ffs.

Did the bud have seeds or popping nanners? Low co2, do you not have intake and exhaust?
iDk brother looks like they got stress somehow.. hell I had lost power to my current grow for 10 days and havent got any hermies. Idk how

Right on man, up until recently I used to go ape shit making things as dark as I could, now I just make it dark but it's not my priority anymore, I don't have a light directly on stuff but there is a faint light leak here or there. If a plant is gonna herm it will no matter what. The reasons they herm who knows, that's anyone's guess but blaming a light leak is the least of my worries now

I never had a hermie's until I grew femalized beans. I even bred with with a non-hermie femalized strain and got hermie beans..

That's the wierd thing about hermies, I've read about people growing the same strain for many grows, same environment ect, then it herms all of a sudden for no reason, it's just the genetic make up I would think, nothing we can do to prevent it, if it happens don't blame yourself, it's just the plant

Dutch Masters makes reverse which is suppose to stop hermies, but they took it off the market, but they are suppose to be releasing a new product

light..this is such a crazy subject..so many opinions.

here's my take: outside it is never really completely dark unless you are away from city light (which travels very far)..you have the moon, stars..this is light and yet they still grow fine.

i just don't subscribe as heavily to the "light leak stressor" theory..i've had plants in a room where i know for sure it's not pitch black and have had no issue.

my personal theory on this is: since the clone is the age of the original donor genetically becomes inferior as she ages..much like a human..which is why we don't want women having babies in their 50's and 60's.

It's not intentional when I leave the lights on. I'm just a stoner, but the lights that are left on are a 60 watt bulb and a small green fluorescent. Its not ideal but doesn't seem to harm anything.
Light intensity diminished rapidly. If the light won't make them grow it probably won't hurt the plants, but again it's not ideal.

i got a couple questions. can a gnat problem lead to hermi? or adding too much diatomaceous earth? its not a light leak.
Genetics, genetics, genetics. I've had so many problems with certain types of genetics, yet with the same growing technique have had wonderful results with others.

Gnats are not harmful, yet in wanted. I had a really bad gnat problem a few years ago. I'm talking flying in your nose problem. I used Ladybugs and beneficial nematodes, and haven't had a problem sense. I haven't used it but there is a product called insect frass. Its like worm castings, but repels harmful insects. Its organic and will also boost your plants tolerance for pests. Do not apply Neem oil. It will ruin your wax. If you plan on waxing your trim.

"I'm having a bit of trouble with my mother plants roots."

If the roots are turning dark you do have a problem. Easiest solution is to transplant her and trim the dark roots in between pots. If the problem is extensive use a 5-gallon bucket with 3 gallons of warm water in it. After removing the plant from the original pot shake her gently to remove as much as the dirt from the rootball that you can. Then dip the rootball in the water and gently swirl it around. This should allow the roots to be better exposed so you can trim off the dark roots.

Good luck, BigSteve.

I have to agree and disagree.
If you treat all plants the same, yeah some are going to hermie because all plants are different and need to be treated differently.
If you are feeding your skunk plant the same as you are feeding your haze plant, your haze is going to be a freaking mess and vice versa. That can easily cause plants to hermie that, under different circumstances, would not have hermied. I do everything I can to NOT be the cause, i.e. light leaks, feeding, watering, training, and if it hermies it is most likely genetic. But from my experiences it is usually the grower not understanding the requirements of a certain plant. I am not saying in all cases, but in most cases.

So just because a growing technique works WONDERS with one pheno of a strain, doesnt mean it will work the same with other phenos or other strains.

I've been using sm-90 by nutrilife for my brown root problem and man the stuff works awesome. As long as you use as directed and add a little bit once a week between nute changes. Makes the whole grow room smell like it was just cleaned with mop n glo or something. Smells awesome
