Ash Catcher Newb Question

Just got an ash catcher, 18 mm glass on glass slide and I can't decide if I'm supposed to be put water in it or not. Currently I have water in it. Does it matter?

It looks exactly like your avatar pic except instead of a mouthpiece it doesn't go up hardly at all and curves slightly downward and ends in a beveled glass on glass slide. =)

Ok after much Googling apparently most people put a little water in it. Now we all know. =)

You need to put water in it, needs to bubble its a another chamber

yes water goes inside ash catchers. the small diffuser inside of it works just like the big one in the bong
