arrested in illinois

me and my buddy got pulled over for having a tail light out, cop said he smelled bud, asked to search we said no he took us out searched it all and found 2 little plants less than a gram and a bowl. right now im looking at class a misdeminor and class c misdeminor and a paraphenalia charge. what should i do. (btw) i have manic depression anxiety and bi polar and have been hospitalized for it and am supposed to be medicated for it but i use cannabis insted. i told them that in the report and there are records of it at the hospital. what should/can i do. and if anyone know whats proly ganna happen, id love to know.

Get a medicinal card.. or can ya in that state? I believe ya can??

illinois has not passed the medicinal bill yet, however, it is very close. i feel like my case can help with the legalization/decriminalization for medicinal cannabis. if anyone has had similar charges id like to hear the outcome

Not in Illinois. Your medical condition will probably help, especially if it's documented by your doctor that you use marijuana medically. Plus they're misdemeanors, unless you've got a serious record already, you'll get probation. Also sounds like the search was illegal. Get a lawyer. Our stoned thoughts and opinions aren't worth a whole lot

yeah this is my first offense. also i have a meeting with my psychaiatrist coming up before my court date so that may help a lil too. i was also planning on moving to michigan after the summer for the reason that medicinal marijuana is legal there.

That is an excellent decision dude. Take your licks in IL, complete your probation, move the MI. CO is MMJ legal. I won't live anywhere that isn't again!

i think ill be able to serve my probation in michigan. if i can get my files transfered there. i just need to get a lawyer that knows what to do

If you're on probation for weed, they probably aren't going to let you use it medically while you're on probation. I mean they can ban you from drinking even though you're over 21 and you've gotta play by the rules. Probation is minimum security prison on the streets. Maybe you'll get lucky though and get a slacker PO. I had friends that did but I was never that fortunate. Drug tests, curfew, mandatory employment, rehabilitation classes, community service, fines... that's how I remember probation. Just keep your head low. 3-6 months and you're free again.

im going to tell them that i was planning on moving before the arrest to obtain my card and seek treatment

Ha don't go to Iowa! They're not really into moderate views on pot, or rational thinking...

my best friend goes to university of iowa and i told him about this incident and thats what he said, "just be glad it wasnt in iowa." ha

good luck. i know a few ppl who got caught in car nothing happened but a fine. so i think u be ok

Haaaa, thats funny stuff.
Seriously though, get a lawyer - pay as much as you can afford for the best you can get. It will save you $$ in the long run.
& yeah, fix that tail light.

dont drive without tail lights. period. thats how everyone gets busted. why were you transporting it inside the vehicle with you. it can be attached to the underside of the vehicle you know.

Ha I used to buy bows from a dude that lived in Iowa City. You still GO TO JAIL for POSSESSION in Iowa... think about that folks!
