DAAMMMN!! IVARS what did you do? You got a lot of bud sites man thats gonna be a huge harvest..
I honestly don't have a definitive answer. No FIM, just LST. There's 9 plants/strains in that room, 3 week veg. Genetics plays a role in node spacing, the diesel plants I have grown refused to be tied down and seem to have decent spacing. I'll post pics some of my veg plants when I get on the laptop, touchpad doesn't upload pics.

I LST through the stretch beginning of flower. By LSTing you change the hormones in the plant to grow out instead of growing up. Imo, this helps keep the node space down. But at the same time I have plants with no LST that have short node spacing. Very contradicting, never really thought about it till now so I'll do some experimenting.

how do ya'll keep your lights? I see that some people say to keep your lights in one place and let the plants grow to them. I keep mine as close as possible to the lights. 1000w, 1 foot away. T5, a couple inches from top. I've been told from a good, experienced grower that your plants should be growing 1 1/4 inches an day when completely healthy.

I do the same with my 1000W HPS

I get my 600watters 6 inches away from tops... No burn!!

I have a 8" High Output inline fan to keep bulbs cool!!! Helps too!!

My question is...
Why use a 1000 watt HPS if getting light SOO close?? Light will have same effect as 600watt hps just alot more heat!!!

A 600 is close but still not a 1000w. The lumen put out of a 1000w is almost double compared to a 600w. From personal experience I have noticed that 1000w I get dense nugs all the way around the plant, with a 600 I got dense nugs but it seemed to me that the penetration was weak. If growing SOG method I guess it doesnt matter too much, but growing the way I\/Iars and I do, you need the most possible lumens. I keep my lights about 4-12 inches from the top.

Yeah I 2nd that I have a 1000watt and a 600watt and the density is less on the 600 then the 1000watt and the 1000watt does penetrate all the way down the plants Iam doing SOG so its perfect for that.

I may clone some of the Afgooy next week before going into flower for the few that asked about it. I am looking for a couple of teens to fill in for some very slow starters...

I'll let you know once the clones get started.
This is the first run so I haven't smoked any yet. I need to flip to flower very soon so there will be enough time for another grow before summer vacation. One of my good friends that lived one house down when I was in jr & high school then went to college as roomates is a grower in the triangle for many years ! I been kinda lazy because of it but picking up steam as I move forward.

i 100% agree with all the above statements about 1000 vs 600 for light intensity and penetration. one point which should be mentioned is the fact that a 600 is more efficient than a 1000. an average 1000w hps kicks out 140,000 lumen while a 600w hps kicks out 90,000. giving the 1000 140 lumen/watt and the 600 150 lumen/watt.

Do I dare ask about a dual arc bulb like mine? :) So many mixed opinions everywhere, but I don't want to start a battle either haha

all other things equal i would believe that the efficiency would be the same. i dont see why an eye hortilux 1000 would be more efficient than an eye hortilux 600. i may be incorrect though i have not checked the numbers. oh and no battle just extra information ;)

When I was dong research I remember reading a very informative article about dual arc bulbs. They were talking about how more of the spectrum was being used more efficiently because of having a fuller spectrum rather then all red or all blue. Blahh I'm really medicated and its going to bug me.. I will look around for it. Does this sound like anything you guys have heard?
