hello AZ cardholders!!! i just got my certification today,i'm pretty excited...i live in the far NW valley, outside surprise...i am most curious about how one would continue to cultivate after locations for distribution are established within 25 miles of your home? what are my options going to be in a year from now when i'm assuming stores will have opened but i still want to cultivate...the grow is my real passion and prop 203 passing is the best thing to happen to me since i got sick...i cant wait to get my card in the mail and crack some legal beans!

When dispensaries are open within 25 miles from you and you apply for your card you will not be authorized to grow.

The two options would be:

1) A ballot proposition to change that 25-mile rule. I think once people found out the Arizona Medical Marijuana Project put it in there for monopoly purposes, people would generally be against it.

or

2) Be a caregiver for someone who lives outside the 25-mile radius.

do the dispensaries have to grow there own on site? i think a ballot prop would be a great idea...i dont really care if i can grow at home,i just want to keep growing.

the 25 mile rule could be challenged on the basis of the 14th amendment. states must not deny equal protection of the law, they can not say that this group of people in pine can be protected by the state in growing their own medicine, however those within 25 miles are not allowed to grow their own. there is a reason no other state has this requirement in their laws, you can either grow or you cannot. The law in whole is based upon a method of creating a monopoly and price fixing; what if AZ decided their can only be 125 grocery stores in the state, I bet we would be paying inflated prices that many could not afford. The law will allow the few that are approved to control the prices and quality of the cannabis that is provided without the fear of competition. If AZ had its way their would be no patient that is not within 25miles of a dispensary; completely eliminating the caregiver's and home growers.

End Rant :joint:

Last I checked, dispensaries would have to produce 70% of their own material on site; they could receive up to 30% from another dispensary, or off-site growers who (BTW) cannot be unduly compensated for their material. In other words, they could be compensated no more than expenses incurred in the production of medical marijuana- no markup allowed.

However, that information may be outdated. I'm too lazy to go poking through the ARS to find out.

They did change it to encourage dispensaries to open in rural areas. I don't know the specifics I just watched an interview of humbles were he said they changed that 70/30 rule/ What they changed it to... I don't know.

but it is not a dispensary and that is all that matters as far as the law is concerned. On a side note I think Sea of Green is a good shop with some interesting employees. However I think some of their items are overpriced at times, in my experience about 3% higher than other stores.
i went to sea of green the week they opened their first store in tempe and stopped buying supplies over the net. their sales people go from really good to flat out dull witted. i mostly know the guys in phoenix but i'm using the tempe store now and i'm not impressed with the knowledge level of 2 of them. both steered me wrong. if you don't know your product, don't try to BS your way through it!

i have gone to 2 other hydro shops in the valley over the years and the prices were pretty close but yeah SOG definately pumps up some prices. i bought a ph monitor for $85 or so. on line they were $40. that's a bit too much.

yeah Sea of Green is pretty expensive so is Home Grown they have a new bigger nicer store on the east side Broadway and Mckelips behind the burger king. Sea of Green is the only store in AZ that sells gnatrol, and they sell their own organic compost tea at the phoenix store. Lots of new little grow stores are up and running now and they seem to have some good prices, grow tents seem to be the big seller every grow store I been to including the new ones have a lot of tents for sell.

i like that home grown is pretty close to SOG. SOG went a few months with limited stocks of essentials so i stumbled on home grown. young people always seem a bit amused that i buy stuff like big bud! punks! i was growing before mommy met daddy.

I use jacks but order mine online. There are no distributors in AZ that I'm aware of. I told them they should carry it. We will see if they pick it up. I do like to get my sweet and liquid karma there.

I have to order online also. The profit margins aren't high enough to warrant outselling the canna specific nutes so I doubt they would even order it. We need to ask a large nurser to carry it because we would have way better chance.

I would check out hydroponics depot. They usually have more selection than most of the smaller grow shops.
Hydro Depot is The only store in AZ I ever been to that sells predatory nematodes. They even have on display mini split AC which was a big surprise to me , because you dont see them much in the USA but they are the perfect AC for a sealed room. I also try and buy from smaller mom & pop grow stores spread the love around you can usually identify these small time stores pretty easy they always have the AC set at 85 even in the summer..lol gotta pay the bills though I can dig it.
